Check to see if the wires on the fan module are corroded. The fan module is under the battery. Easier to see from under vehicle. Also check the fuses first.

How can I replace the cooling fan on my jetta my self?

its easy, its held on with four bolts to the rad frame, disconnect the motor connector first then remove the bolts and pull out the fan. reverse the process to install the new one, make sure you attempt it when the engine is good and cold the blades on the fan can do damage. ( rate me )

Cooling fans and AC on 2000 Jetta 2.0 litre GLS - not working!

worked on one of these last week as well done the door locks and gearchange.Cant remember but look around the rad area for a reostat pack ,also check the earth on the fans and for a feed as that will give you a clue what could be wrong ,but the fan should come on with the AC so something is amiss .My favourite is to run a feed from the battery and then try pushing it behind the positive ,and then do the same with the earth,Cant live without the AC here in alicante spain ,its still about 28 outside now and its 22.11 ,try it out then get back to me if you cant sort it because i have to go now to pick er indoors up from work

After I drive around 30 KM, my 2000 Jetta VR6 's temperature goes up from 90 deg to alarm.

First when it has cooled down, check the water level in the radiator. Then determine it overheats while idling, does the fan turn on?
