Question about 2005 Kia Optima
This is supposed to be done by special A/C certified mechanic. There is a special tool that will release the clamps on the A/C hose. The system is under pressure, and contains freon even if system seems empty.

CHECK AC COMPRESSOR CLUTCH FUSE AND RELAY.MAKE SURE POWER IS GOING TO COMPRESSOR CONNECTOR.IF NO CHECK FUSE AND RELAY.IF YES.YOUR PROBLEM COULD BE AC CONTROL SWITCH BAD OR BLOWER MOTOR.COMPRESSOR CLUTCH SHORTED OR OPEN.AC PRESSURE SENSOR BAD OR REFRIGERANT IS LOW.

go into the truck. there are 2 screws holding the stop light cover. it is at a place hard to get you hands in.

Before you turn out the light you should have a code read carried out just to make sure nothing sinister is going on with the management system.
If the car is running ok then the code will probably either pertian to the O2 sensor, the EVAP system, or a drop in catalytic efficiency, but this isn't set in stone, just the most popular scenarios.
