I agree with the previous poster but I wold additionally check the charge voltage while the engine is running; you may have a bad alternator which would produce the same symptoms.
While you are at the auto parts store, check whether the Chinese multimeters are still offered for under $20 US. If not, Radio Shack has similar instruments for around the same price. If you are lucky and have a Harbor Freight tool store, I have bought them there several times for $3-$5. Any of those are good enough for home use and come with simple instructions in mostly readable Chinglish.

Sounds like you have a bad battery. go to auto zone, they will test it for free and install a new one for you.

Check the compression on each cylinder and the head gaskets as I had a couple of cylinders leaking to each other and worn rings that made it a pest to start first thing in the morning or after a couple of hours
is it using coolant much if so it can indicate the gasket is leaking

Ford expedition wont start in cold weather

You need to have the alternator checked. Sounds as if it has a bad diode or internal regulator.

Won't start from battery but starts from boost. Battery is okay starter is okay

Probably an intermittent ignition switch. Try start it by connecting a wire directly to the starter solenoid and touching it on the + of the battery. Ignition switch must be ON and be sure the car is NOT in gear.

You can not boost a battery, that has failed,
due to a couple of bad cells

The alternator plays no roll in boosting
or starting

I was listening a cd when waiting to pick someone up and when i came to start the car it the engine turned over and the sort of bussed but would not start - i waited a couple of hours and then the car...

charge the battery, then put a volt meter on battery before you start it and note the voltage, then start the car and check the voltage while its running..if its less then 13-13.5 then its not charging...if it seems to be charging, take it to your local parts store and have them load test the battery after its been fully charged

My '89 Jeep Wagoneer won't start. It has a 6month

sounds like the starter actually have some one load test it for you, might be drawing more power then it need, hence the need for a jump

Starts with boost then car dies after 1 km and won't start

once the car is started it runs off the alternator .. so even if your battery is bad the alternator will still run the car .. so it looks lilke your alternator is bad .. when you jumped the car you charged the battery a little but not enough to keep it going since the alternator is not charging . if you hook up a charger overnight then you might be able to run it long enough to get somewhere (garage) .. try to drive when you dont need lights .. those will run down the battery in a short time .. if you have a volt meter then the battery should read about 13.8 to 14.2 volts when the alternator is working properly (car running) .. if it reads lower (like 12volts or less) then the alternator is not charging .. some auto parts stores will test your system free ..
