Question about 1997 BMW Z3 Roadster
Seat goes back and forth but not up and down. its stuck up wich means i can drive car with roof up as 6,1 tall . when operate switch it clicks and there is movement on rod from motor but doesnt operate. is there a way to manualy lower seat as once at right hight i dont care!!!! rob
Had a similar issue and solved it by removing the seat to get access. The mechanism is actuated by a motor which rotates a long thread through a metal housing connected to the chair. Either this metal housing is fixed on the thread or the thread is completely at the end and is jammed stuck. Now loosen the bolt and remove the axis. Spray some WD40 and wait a short while to get the oil crawling in.
Take a screwdriver and place it in the opening and put some force, but don't overdo else you may need a replacement spare (which will it too). If it is still stuck, like mine as I was too gentle, I tried another go with WD40 and repeated the same again, with success.
Once loose, think about lubrication before you assemble, as it is not easy reach. (free learning)
