Do you have hi beams or low beams if either one works and others don't check the relays for either high or low they are the same number you can switch them to see if a relay is bad

SOURCE: CHEVY 1500 TRUCK HEADLIGHTS TURN OFF WHEN YOU TURN ON SWITCH

If you have replaced the switch, and it is still doing it it sounds like you definately have a short somewhere in your wiring. On the other hand if the dimmer is in the turn signal arm ( forward bright back dim ) the problem could also be there in the dimmer switch, such as a short being caused by that dimmer switch being faulty.Auto Zone and Discount Auto Parts both test a lot of your electrical problems for free, and/or may have some knowledge to more accurately pin point the problem. Not sure about Pep Boys or some of the other discount auto part chains.

SOURCE: headlights won't work Chevy K-10 Pickup

With electrical problems I always look for a bad ground wire, especially on older vehicles. Look for any wire that goes to an inner fender or the engine, there maybe a faulty relay in the circuit too. good luck, Chuck

SOURCE: headlights do not work on 96 camaro.

by looking at the manual for my 97 Camaro and if you say that the switch is good then that helps narrow it down a lot, because i found a circuit breaker... not a fuse!...located inside the headlamp switch itself. good luck and let me know if you find it... c.b's. are usually resetable please let me know if you fix it because i have the same car and it might go out on me someday..thanks man! also you can see if your getting voltage on the yellow wire when the switch is in the "head" position..if its not there, then its almost a guaranty that its the c.b.

Low beams not working but high beams are on a 2000 chevy metro

The headlight relay provides power to the dimmer relay, then power goes thru a fuse for each light for each circuit (4). The low beam fuses are in fuse block 2. The dimmer relay is controlled by the daytime running light module. The headlight and dimmer switches send signals to the DRL module. You may need a shop manual to troubleshoot the circuits.

99 Chevy suburban non of my headlights work, first just drl's worked with brights now I have none

There are a couple other componets you are probably not aware of . The daytime running lamps module an the DRL relay . Rather then guessing or wondering as to the problem , leaning how to test electrical circuits using a wiring diagram an a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter is the preferred way to fix automotive electrical problems . This is how professional technician's do it , well a few probably . They'er are a few that just replace part's . Here is a web site for free wiring diagrams http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html
Enter your vehicle info. year , make , model and engine size. Under system click on lighting , then under subsystem click on head lamps .Click the search button ,then the blue links one at a time . Watch these videos

I have a 1998 cavilier i have no low beams,fuses checked good

I’m inclined to believe you have a headlight switch problem and here’s why. There are 2 fuses one for each of the headlights on the vehicle. For the daytime running lights (DRL) to operate the fuse and wiring to the right head light has to be good, because it supplies the power for both headlights in the DRL mode. The fuse and wiring for the left headlight has to be good because the DRL relay needs power from that fuse to operate. The DRL relay in turn provides a path through the left headlight and wiring to ground. When you pull back on the dimmer switch, you are activating the flash to pass circuit of the headlight switch assembly. Because the flash to pass mode works you then know that the high beam wiring and headlight bulbs are in good condition. This also tells you that the ground circuit for the headlight switch is good. In many newer vehicles, the headlight switch doesn't provide power to the lights. The headlight switch has now become the path to ground to complete the circuit. The headlight switch and the high/low beam dimmer control are one assembly so when you replace one you get the other free. Such a deal! My coffee bet is on the headlight switch assembly.

1996 chevy s10 headlights will not burn on high or low beam .

I would take a look at your headlight dimmer switch. The dimmer switch works independent of the DRL system.
Below is the wiring diagram for you vehicle.
Good luck and let me know.
