Question about 2006 Toyota Corolla

Belt tensioner leakage?

I have 2006 Corolla that needs a replacement of belt tensioner because it leaks (?) according to Toyota service center. The symptom is a screeching noise whenever I start the engine and goes away sometime later when I'm driving.

My common knowledge of belt tensioner mechanism is they only operated by adjusting screw/nut. Is there really a mechanism that support the belt tensioner which might leak and causes tension to loose?

Thanks,

Joshua

In my 37 years of working on cars, I never, ever heard of a belt tensioner leaking, All there is inside is a heavy duty spring, and after awhile they become weak, causing the belt to squeel. There is no adjustment on them, just replacement.

2006 Toyota Corolla LE. Loud squeaking coming from serpentine belt area after I start the engine cold. Changed the belt recently but still noice persist. Loud squeaking goes away after driving for 3-5...

It is probably the tensioner pulley that's gone bad. It can be replaced separately, if you can purchase the pulley separately. As to how to go about changing it in such a small space, it's definitely possible, with the right type of tools. That's why mechanics have so many different shapes and lengths of the same size tools.

2006 Toyota Corolla, every morning there is squeaky sound when I start the car. Later, it goes away. It is for the past six months. Is it serpentine belt causing this sound, if so how I can loose...

The problem is the rear motor mount is filled with hydraulic fluid that leaks onto the accessory drive belt. The motor mounts fail prematurely and the fluid makes the belt squeak. Toyota dealership I took my 2006 Corolla to replaced the motor mount and belt free of charge.

I have a 06 toyota corrola and i need to changed the serpentine belt what tool am i going to need?

Use a 19mm box end wrench and twist at the tensioner pulley to loosen the belt, then just pull it out and replace it with the new belt. You shouldn't need any SST (special service tool). To check the fig please click on the link below:--- http://www.park-flyers.com/tensioner_pulley.jpg --------------- Look closely on the front of the engine there is the tensioner with a pulley on it, in order to remove the belt the tensioner has to be depressed with a 19mm prybar and socket, when the tensioner is depressed the belt can be taken off all the pulleys, before removing the belt draw a diagram of the belt location around all the pulleys otherwise you may have a problem getting the belt installed correctly. Thanks. keep updated for any more query.you can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

There is a squealing sound coming from the engine on start up and when sitting idling. Is it the serpentine belt or are there other reasons for this. Is that the only belt on a 2006 toyota corolla...

Check tension the drive belt(s) as slipping at low rev is a classic indication of this fault. In extreme conditions a rubber burning smell may be present. Replacement of drive belts is the 100% remedy and best option .

2006 toyota corolla has a little leakage on shocks but dealer said that is normal. the car has roll or sway when i take a wide corner and we go back and forth in our seats. it is very annoying.

There should be no leaking from shock's or strut's. if there is a leak the seal is no good so the unit does not have pressure and will fail, being that shock's and strut's are pressurize , need to be replace.

Replaciing serpentine belt on 2006 Toyota Corolla

You'll have to remove the engine cover under the bottom so you can position the new belt on the pulleys properly. Get a wrench or tensioner tool and turn the tensioner clockwise to relax the drive belt. Don't apply excessive force.

It's hard to draw a picture with words, but looking at the engine from the passenger side of the car, there are basically two top pulleys, two middle, and two bottom. The drive belt goes around the outside of the two top and two bottom, and on the inside of the two middle.
