Question about 1999 Oldsmobile Alero
Mine doing same thing, seems like when u turn the key off and take it out, the vehicle is staying in "ACC" position. odometer stays on, oil light, seat belt light and sometimes battery light. it has something to do with the BFC BATT (10A) fuse, all though the fuse itself is not blown. when i take out the bfc batt fuse, the key positions work fine. dash lights off like normal when key is placed in OFF. BUT with the bfc batt fuse removed, the car will not run. it will turn over, fire and then immideatly die out. putting the bfc batt fuse back in, OFF key position is now like ACC (with dash lights on). the cars starts and runs fine with the bfc batt fuse in, altought the check engine light remains on. i was wondering if anyone knew what exactly the bfc batt fuse controls??
The ignition lock cylider gets jammed try messing with the shifter my alero has done the same thing to me. the ignition cylinders on these the grand-ams and about five other gm cars with the dash mounted ignition are very ****-poor and a new switch at the dealer is 175.00 and you have to have it fitted to your key as the new one comes without a key

BFC that body function controller. BFC batt fuse controls .the body function controller .its part of the PCM.the BFC controls anti theft system. your interior lights -drl lights- radio -door locks.if your check engine light is on take it to dealership.because your BFC and PCM works together. your car could shut off. that unsafe.when you on a busy highway.you have electrical problem.not a home fix.
