Question about 2000 Toyota Celica

We are trying to change the belt on my 2000 toyota celica, and we put the new one on and now its making loud noises! we got the right belt, but its still big. what do i do?

I would first double check and make sure that you really do have the right size belt with the right teeth on the belt as well. Another thing that you should look into is maybe the belt tensioner has gone south on you.

My hunch is that the belt is not routed correctly. Double check the routing of the belt per the routing diagram which should be located on top of the radiator shroud.

If it is the correct belt, then you have missed one side of a pulley verses another. The belt should be perfectly tight when installed correctly. I don't know how you could have had a loud noise when the belt was too loose. Look for the belt diagram on the hood engine compartment or service manual.

Mate.I would get your water pump checked.I had the same on a car and that is what was happening.Exactly as you explained it.Mine seized and snapped the belt.More cost.And a tow.The squeel is the pump starting up with very little water lube.Water moves around and then it stops.Hey!It may be a belt thing.But I would check the w/pump.Hope this helps

Never as it does not have a timing belt but instead has a timing chain that requires no maintenance and should last the life of the engine.

I would suggest hat you replace the timing belt. The noise that you hear is the belt.

you need to change the wheel bearing. you need to pull out the whole hub and the bearing has to be pressed out and in again with a new one
