Hi!
I have Honda accord 2004 Auto transmisson and done 104,000 KMS. Couple of days back I noticed that gears started slipping and engine RPM went up without moving the car forward. At this time, I tried reverse and it didn't work either. I stopped the engine and restarted. Now I could move the car for about 1-2 KMS and again gears slipped. Again I stopped and started the engine and it moved for another couple of KMS before slipping. I took the car to Honda dealer and the techician's laptop found 'high pressure on second'...something..Car is with the dealer now and waiting for diagnisis. What could be the problem? I am in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

It sounds like you have one of a couple problems. First, for the D4 light to be on and flashing, there is a problem the TCM (transmission control module) is seeing. If this is a V6, these transmissions are notorious for having problems internally, and need to be rebuilt at a transmission shop, or replaced. There is also a chance that either the third or fourth gear pressure switches have gone bad they will be the black and brown switches bolted to the top of the transmission. These can also cause this light flashing to occur. I dont understand the rest of your post. If you could clarify what you mean i could try to answer you question a little better

Do you know what code or information the Honda dealer you took it to found stored in the tcm? if you can find that out i may be able to give you the most common cause for that issue. It sounds more like a transmission pressure switch failure at this time but if you could get me the code they found i could tell you more definetly. Thanks

When i put my 92 honda accord into d4 it starts blinking and wwont take off. also one of my belts will make noise

This is a bit involved. When the D4 light blinks, it is indicating a problem with the input or output systems for the A/T. If you find your Service Check Connector (it should be near or at the top of the kick panel on the passenger's side; it's usually blue and has two holes in it; it is at the end of a wire so don't look for a fixed unit; it is often simply tucked in behind the top of the kick panel. You should pull the kick panel out to find it) you can insert a paper clip so that it connects the two holes. Then, if you turn your ignition to ON II (do not start the car) the D4 light will blink out a code, using both long and short blinks. The blinks have to be carefully counted. Problem codes 1 through 9 care indicated by short blinks. Problem codes 10 through 15 are indicated by a series of long and short blinks (you have to add them together to get the code).

I tell you all this to indicate that the procedure is fairly involved, and since you probably don't have a list of what the codes mean, I would have to say that it would be best to find, if you can, a Honda dealer to read the codes and check your transmission. Most of these problems are connector or sensor related and are usually indicated by the transmission not shifting from one gear to another, or by the transmission jerking hard when it shifts. The belt problem you are hearing is probably related.

I hope this is of some help.

If your having no problems and you are in a position to not have access to a Honda service department, you can find the backup radio fuse in your engine compartment fuse box and take it out(not with the car running) for 10 seconds or so, then put it back. It will clear the computer. If the D4 starts blinking again, it would indicate that the warning was not just a glitch.
I really hope that this is helpful; I'm sorry if it is only disheartening.

Theres a transmission cooling sensor and somtimes the wire comes loose from other repairs being done around it. or its just out. its on the left side sitting on the tranny. THATS WHY your d4 light is blinking

Jun 27, 2009- hi what i did mean to say is i have a honda accord 2005 2.4 v-tec automatic transmission its not a V6 engine for sure. this problem has suddenly started like as i said the D4 light starts to...

You indicated that the transmission starts jerking after a long drive.

With the mileage on your vehicle, and the possible sandy conditions that it is driven in, your automatic transmission fluid may be fouled, also causing the jerky shifting with extended operation.

A thorough cleaning of the transmission case interior and inspection of your gears are in order. You could prevent this similar situation after repairs by replacing your ATF more often that required by your service manual.

Hope this helps.

92 Honda Accord

Blinking light means there is a trouble code. There is a procedure to manually pull codes from the computer.Have the codes checked, have them written down.It could be just shift solenoids,or could even be something more serious, but thats the starting point.
