Hi..my name is Keith..to answer your question..a bad EGR valve will not make a car smoke..and the is 3 types of smoke...depending on what color it is..if it is a blue smoke..its burning oil..if its black smoke...then its a fuel problem..and if its a white smoke..then its usually a head gasket blown and its dumping antifreeze into your engine...i hope this will help
