Question about 1997 Chevrolet Blazer

1 Answer

97 Chevy Blazer: 4WD 4.3L 6cyl Runs great all winter, as soon as it gets hot out, it stalls or quits after driving for a while after making a few stops on errands. Been to several garages and Dealers. The following have been replaced to try to solve the issue: Fuel filter, Battery, Altenator, Coil, Ignition Switch (Key was getting stuck in.),Fuel pump, Plugs, Air Filter, Fuses, Relays, etc. The temp gage is good, and shows no increase in over-heating. No codes coming up. Have good spark, have fuel coming through. This has happened for the last two years.

Sounds like the ignition module on the fender.
You would need to know if you are missing spark to the plugs when it quits running. The carb would not run out of fuel then suddenly have fuel again.

97 chevy blazer w/ 4.3 won't start unless i pour full directly into it....what is causing this. was driving and it just stalled ...fires but won't turn over completely

if you can put fuel in throttle body and it runs. then it is not getting any fuel. check your fuel pump fuse and the relay, if ok, then you may have a bad fuel pump or a plugged up fuel filter. check filter and fuses first. good-day !!

Check the electronics in the distributor. Chevs are notorious for the electronics going bad inside of the distributor.

Replace the Ignition Switch, the electric part, not the lock cylinder.

Stalling

The break cylinder in your engine goes into a item that looks like a pie. it is a big cylinder. This controls vacuum in and out. The reason it stalls is because this item is bad. I had the same issue and my son and I reoplaced it and all is well. So from the master cylinder it connects to this item. I apologize I forgot the name of it.
I would highly suggest you take it out and take it with you to the autoparts if you intend to DIY. The reason being is that depending on what month your care was made the main piston that attaches to your break pedal from there comes in two different sizes and I learned the hard way that this is the case...
Hope this helps.

check for loose or cracked vacuum lines, and/or the rotor. It may not be making consistant contact.
