SOURCE: 1991 Jaguar XJ6 180K Low oil Pressure and Leaking Power steering

Oil pressure fluctuation is normal in the older XJ's and is nothing to be overly concerned about unless it is frequently dropping below 2 on the oil pressure gauge. As far as the leak in the power steering, it is most likely a bad seal in on of the steering gearboxes. You can get a seal repari kit from numerous different vendors online, however, it is much easier to just replace the entire rack and pinion instead of trying to rebuild the old one. Also, replacing the rack entirely eliminates the possibility of the seals being replaced wrong and also eliminates the possibility of you replacing the seals only to have something else break in the relatively near future.

SOURCE: What is the best oil to use for a 94 XJ6 Jaguar?

Not matter of what best, but what recommended by the manufacture. if you intend on switching oils make sure they are compatible....owners manual for the weight eg 15W40, but then you have the option of synthetic, blended or regular oil....but once again, go with manufactures recommendations, and it you are super unsure, contact the jaguar dealer and ask them what types of oil you can put it

SOURCE: 1995 Jaguar XJ6 oil pressure gauge

This is OK. Oil pressure is always higher when the engine is cold.

As an engine accumulates miles the pressure will start to drop due to bearing clearances increasing.

If this just started to happen you may want to replace the oil filter and or oil pressure sending unit.

108k on clock 14yrs old oil pressure indicates4 to quart

being the age and the miles on the vehicle it would not hurt and its good idea to replace the oil pressure sensor even though is fairly cheap to replace. they tend to to become faulty over times and not give correct reading.

OIL ISSUE

I have a 94 4.0L and I use 10W-40 in the winter and 20W-50 in the summer. It keeps the pressure up and it doesn't smoke when I start it because of the valve seals. It takes 8 quarts everytime including the filter. 2 gallon jugs. I change it about every 4,000 miles.
