I noticed actually that alot of european cars develop little rattles and vibrations. It sounds like you dont have a problem IE: loose shock mount or suspension issues that are dangerous. Otherwise it would rattle with just the smallest vibration, but I understand that rattles can be annoying. Try checking the mud skirt and see if its loose. Also check the muffler and exhaust mounts to see if either are loose as this is alot of times the culprit for rattles. Hope it helps!

Pontiac Grand Am rattling noise iN BACK when driving

On that particular vehicle, and is very common, the rear upper strut mount rubbers wear out and cause a rattling noise. The noise is influenced by road conditions and speed and will vary in noise intensity.

Recently bought peugeot 306 hatchback, S reg. it passed M.O.T 13th Sept but yesterday broke down on Motorway, loss of acceleration and felt like pulsating/shuddering, the handbrake clicks 9 times before...

you have bought as pig in a poke ,yes 3 clicks is right on handbrake ,but its easy to do just remove the rear drums and adjust brakes manually, half hours work thats all ,but it would still pass mot because its on the rolling road brake tester and both rear brakes were within 25%,But as for it breaking down i cannot say without my dirty oil encrusted fingers playing with its vitals .but if your passing alicante spain i will have a look for you

Failed mot on emissions slightly too high have changed the sparke plugs and air filter and added red x to the fuel now seems worse exhaust now smoking when at idle clears when driving is this the red x if...

It will smoke because of the red x, dontr know how long it will take to clear. But before going for an mot, you should take the car on the motorway or such like and give it a good blast/clean out. Town and short trip driving is not good for the car, it can clogg up the exhaust, and also if you take the car for test and the engine is relatively cold then the emmissions will be bad, As i said, give a good blast down the road to clear it out, That should work.

I have a VW Touran it has a rattle on the rear when i go over bumpy roads, it sounds as though something is loose. Is it a normal vw noise or something to worry about?

we had a similar problem last year . When we took it for MOT it was found to have broken rear suspension spring. rattle noise stopped once it was replaced. This year MOT same problem with spring on other side of car!!!

its probably your bump stops. the vw ones are very soft. i bought ford escort (the shape after the xr3) ones and cut them a little down to fit. i think the noise is either your shock touching or the sound of the tire scraping the body of the car. hope this helps.
