Engine gives a little miss while traveling out on the road

Hi i have a 1994 volkswagen transporter t4 2.5 petrol its duel fuel petrol / LPG it had been converted to LPG in 1996 and has run on LPG up till 2 years ago then i connected the petrol back up so it can be switched from one or the other. now its developed a miss while driving out on the road it happens on petrol or LPG while stopped the engine runs well Evan reeving the engine while parked it will not miss only when its under load. i have replaced the spark plugs, ignition leads, coil, and replaced the distributor with a new one it has a new cap and rotor and have all so replaced the throttle body with a new one as the old one had wear in the shaft and have replaced the fuel rail and injectors with new ones. I hope you can help me fix it thanks Darren.

Hi, I had a vehicle for factory fitted LPG ,engine won''t start and I trace fault fuses and relay ok but i dont have pulse going to the solenoid,is rhis something to do with the ECM?

I take it that you have a duel fuel system where by you can switch from fuel to gas by a switch on the dash
the solenoids will shut of petrol or gas depending on the switch position
Normally it is not connected to the ECM as it is not something that the control module has any thing to do with
THe only action that would involve the ECM is the readjustment of the air/fuel mixture as it reads the HO2s and O2 sensors after you change fuel delivery systems
I would involve the shop that fitted the LPG system as it could be simply be a bad connecting in a wire or loose ground wire

Over heating problem and problems associated with duel fuel

If the overheating occurs when on gas (LPG) I would be looking at a problem converter /regulator for the gas as it may be too lean under load . If you have a viscous fan hub then that will also cause over heating as the engine is working hard but there is little air flow through the radiator because the fan is not drawing sufficient air to cool it.. As the octane rating for petrol and LPG is much then same then Make sure that the ignition timing is correct. Find a service shop that specialises in LPG fuel cars and they may have a dyno that they use to get optimum performance out of both fuels .

1991 XJ6 (XJ40) 3.2 auto. This car has a LPG conversion fitted and is duel fuel. It starts on petrol, and then switches to gas at 2000 rpm when the switch is engaged. A few days ago now it would't start,...

i have a dealers manual somewhere and i put it somewhere safe and i cannot find it ,typical but if its converted right it should start on lpg with no problem without starting on petrol but it all depends on the type of conversion and who fitted it i suppose .I have a 4.0 litre version and what a tool its just so impressive only wish i could get a few more weddings to do in to help pay the road tax here in spain

Started car running on petrol for 5 minutes with lpg switched on, clicking noise from lpg tank, slight smell of gas, when fuel switched to lpg engine cut out. start again on petrol, switch on lpg again,...

could be number of problems but often this is caused by valve on the inlet manifold which is electricaly operated and then it allows the gas in but it is also vacumn sensitive so a perished rubber pipe could cause it not to sense the vacumn .best advice without seeing it is to visit a mechanic that is conversant with LPG conversion

I have a 2004 rodeo on duel fuel when I switch to lpg it stays on Petrol none of the lpg system is powerd up it just continues to run on petrol It is a factory fitted Imco system.

because of the high pressures/safety implications you will have to have it checked out by a dealer.at least then you have comeback...if say, it leaks......

Petrol has a different ignition point than LPG. You might want to get your fuel system recalibrated.

if you use lp and loose power it is a problem with the lp regualter, this acts the same way as a fuel pressure regulater on a fuel injected vehicle. you need to have this replaced. please rate this thanks
