It sounds like to me your coil pack is going out. When the coil starts to go bad they will start to fail when the car gets hot and won't work properly again until they cool down. That is why when you wait 30 minutes it will start back up. You can actually have the coil tested at AutoZone and they will let you know if it is going bad or not. Let me know if you have any further questions and thank you for using FixYa!

Hello...

Did you replace the power train control module?
Did you have it programmed and set up for the secret key information?
You can not use a used module in these Jeeps once they are installed they are loaded with the Jeeps VIN and can not be redone

2000 jeep grand cherokee just randomly dies what could be the problem

Can't even guess

A repair shop will have to keep it a week,
if necessary, to wait for the problem & collect
data or something to work with

They can give you a data recorder to plug into
obd port

A fuel pump sometimes shuts off as they wear out

COMMON PROBLEMS
There are several things that few people know about starting cars in cold weather. 1. Check your battery to make sure it is not rusted, leaking, and has a charge 2. Jump start your battery with another car, even if you believe the battery is good, this often times will still start your car. 3. If your engine is cold, and you have an older car, ensure to get your fuel lines to the engine flushed or have fuel injection service performed 4. The engine tends to warp the same way wood does during the extreme cold, do not be afraid to continue trying to warm up the engine by constant cranks with it is cold out. Your not going to hurt the car, the worse that could happen is too much fuel will enter the carborator and cause flooding in the system to occur. Wait 20 minutes if this happens and start to crank again 5. Bad spark plugs are a major reason why many cars take a very long time to start 6. Please have your spark plugs removed and exchanged for new ones. Over time, spark plugs become fowled and prevent the car from starting even thou you hear cranking!!!

Car turns on for 5 to 8 seconds and turns off will not stay on?

You will need a new fuel pump relay to keep the engine running. The prime switch for the fuel pump operates fine for it starts the engine and once the oil pressure is up to snuff the computer shuts the prime switch off and turns on the fuel pump relay till you shut the engine off

No power to fuel pump on a 94 cherokee what could be the problem? all relays are new.

the oil pressure switch conjoins to the fuel pump feed upon starting the engine. once the engine gets to normal oil pressure the computer will shut the feed off from the oil switch and turns the relay on to take over till you shut the engine off. If the fuel pump is good try this test. Turn the key to the on position & do not start the engine. You will hear the fuel pump running if the oil switch is good

Have to hold gas pedal to the floor to start which normally would never need to. Of course it takes awhile to start but don't know what else to do

Holding a fuel injected vehicles fuel pedal to the floor will shut off the fuel injectors when cranking it over. This makes me suspect you may have a leaking fuel injector that drips inside your engine flooding it out when shut off.
There could be other issues causing this symptom but this may be a good beginning.

Fuel Injection Problem I believe.

If the jeep is a 2000 and you have never changed the fuel filter, I would highly suggest you do. You might want to get a full tune up while your at it. Plugs, wires, cap and rotor if it has it. Air filter as well. That's simple maintence and won't hurt to do. Might just make it run like new again.

Check the fuel injecters for leaking. close off the return line and see if u have a pressure drop in the rail. If you do u have a leaking injecter.

You say you changed the cam sensor. A1391 code is a crank sensor on the top of the trans. bell housing.

1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee stalling and not starting

Since you've replaced many of the usual suspects (fuel pump etc.) you might want to look into testing or simply replacing the crankshaft position sensor or the camshaft position sensor. If you intermittently lose one the these signals it would cause the problem you describe.
