Try this and see if it works. Let me know.
Start your van. Then slide your temp lever all the way to the left (full cold). Then turn the Mode Control to 'panel' (the one that sends air to your face only). Then turn the 'blower switch' to all the way to full. Now go to the leftmost three buttons. Press the top one (rear wiper on constant) and the bottom one (rear wiper washer fluid). Hold these two for a few seconds. Once the lights come on solid then begin to flash you can let go. The AC will now calibrate. You will feel the air blow out of all the different zones at different intervals and see lights come on and go off. Then after a minute or two the top button you pressed will be slowly flashing. This means it has been completed . Press the last flashing button and you are done.

almost forgot you need to do this after you disconnect and reconnect it...Now try holding down the bottom two outside buttons one on left of panel and the one on the right. This runs the cool down test. You might have to run these test more than once. If the a.c. is not working properly you will fail this test.

    This worked for me!

Forgot to mention, keep the a/c on high recirc

Ac light and air recirculate light flash constantly. what would cause this

Check to see that air conditioning compressor is actually cycling while a/c is "turned on". If it is not then most likely the system is low on refrigerant and there is a low pressure sensor that keeps the system from running while low on refrigerant.

Reprogram AC/heater door mode

Press and hold the POWER and RECIRCULATE buttons simultaneously for at least 5 seconds. The LEDs on the button should come on and it takes about 3 minutes to run through the diagnostics as it checks the limits of each of the actuators. After completion, if the RECIRCULATE button is flashing then the calibration of one or more of the actuators has failed.

My 1998 grand caravan cigarett lighters sockets not working and the lights on the rear wiper, interm wiper, recirculate, and ac buttons flash. Any ideas checked fuses all good. Also my back up lights are...

Depending on which body your caravan is they are 2 to 4 fuse-blocks in your vehicle . 1 under-hood 1 under the dash or at either end of the dash assy. between dash & door or depending on your options they may be 1 in the back of the vehicle behind pannel . Go to your local parts store and ask them to help you . A GOOD PARTS STORE WILL HELP YOU FIND ALL FUSE-BLOCKS

AC & Rear wiper switch button indicator lights blink

The procedure for re-setting the HVAC control panel on a 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan follows:
With ignition on but not running
1. turn knob to air vents
2. turn fan knob to ON
3. temperature setting on COLD (2X) {I have dual temp controls}
4. hold top(rear wiper) and bottom (rear wiper with wash) buttons pressing down together until all the buttons cycle through (this will require 1 to 2 minutes of continuous pressing)
I learned this from a very helpful local Dodge service adviser

Replaced battery, then dash AC amber light flashes on/off.

You could do 2 things...have the codes read and reset at a parts store or try to take both wires off the battery and try to reset the codes.

Ac/heating problem

Same problem for me. Local garage seems to think replacing the control module in the dash will solve the problem. I also have clicking sounds behind where the relay junction box is (under dash). My problem is intermitant so I'm also thinking that replacing a relay or two might also help.

Lights flashing on a/c and air recirulate buttons

Sounds like its gone into programming mode. All you need to do is start your van. (if you are unsure what knob or lever is which I am looking in the manual for proper terms) Then slide your temp lever all the way to the left (full cold). Then after a minute or two the top bottn you pressed will be slowly flashing. This means it has been completed (I actually let it run for 5 more minutes just in case something else started blinking). Press the last flashing button and you are done.

when you changed the battery you loosened or broke the body ground wire just follow the ground cable from the battery to the engine and try to find a smaller wire that is disconnected or broken
