Question about 2004 Ford Freestar

Freestar - Hit something in road. Liquid behind left rear tire. Look like coming from the "silver" pipe running there (or dripping on it.) No smell - looks and feels like water. Any ideas?

After driving my vehicle, there is a hot glue type of smell coming from the engine. But as soon as I turn it off the smell goes away. Any ideas?

Sometimes people will run over a plastic bag and it will melt on the hot exhaust pipe and cause to smell.

2004 ford freestar rumbling noise as I drive down the road at about 45-60mph - it sounds and feels a bit like I hit a rumble strip but it is coming from the engine

Sounds like a half shaft. Reach around behind each wheel and see if there is play in the shaft that leads from the wheel to the transmission. There should be no play. Other possibility is a bearing hub. Jack up car, grab the tire at 9 and 3 o'clock. Shake wheel if there is movement not from the tie rod then it is the bearing hub.

Burning plastic smell from under hood

You will need to check where the liquid is coming from, It may be anything from Air Con, Fuel, Transmission Fluid etc..

The fact you smell burning plastic could be 3 things..

1, Brake pads could smell and burn down if they are on too tight (Had this problem with a trailer). Hence when you apply the brakes it could be squirting brake fluid out due to too much pressure.
- Check brake fluid

2, If the smell and liquid is inside the car (front pass side) it could be the air ducts. Under the dashboard you have air ducts etc for the fans and in car cooling (brother had issue with this)

3, Whatever the fluid is, it could possibly drip onto something hot, unusual for liquid to smell like plastic though, Auto transmission oil smells like fish.

Best bet would be the brakes. Next time you smell it just smell in the wheel mag and see if you can smell it, check the engine fluids often and dont use A/C (Air Con) as that does drip fluid (normal). If it is the brakes smelling you will need to have the lines bled out, tyre places may be able to do this, and possibly new brake pads

Good luck

I've got a 2006 Ford Explorer that's leaking small amounts of a reddish liquid directly behind the front passenger tire. Could this be power steering fluid and what could cause this. It has 65,000 miles on...

First check the level of power steering fluid, if its down then that's your problem. If it is low then get it on a ramp while someone turns the wheel and watch for drips.(Like a leaky house pipe liquid can run a long way from where the actual leak is so you need a good eye and a lamp). The pipes tend to rub against engine wearing it over time. You may have to turn the engine on a couple of times to build the pressure up, but i don't recommend running while your under there.

Gas comming out of the tail pipe check engine light does not come on.

Chances are it is water coming out this is normal to notice some water dripping out of exhaust periodically as the car runs, If the liquid actually smells like gas i am at a lose I have never heard of this occuring.
