We are having an intermit problem with the blower. The blower is new and the air is cold, but, going down the road the blower will stop. Sometimes it will come back on other times my husband has to juggle a wire or plug to get it to come back on. We are not sure if it is the plug or not. Can the plug be replaced or what else could it be?
It could be the blower motor itself. when they begin to go they will run intermittantly and tapping the housing will somtimes make it work for a short time. I woulkd replace the blower and i think it will solve your woes.
is your car automatic climat control? if so there is a part called (by most) the Automatic temperture control module. But if not you are probably correct in the plug. look at the wires leading into the plug to see if they all seem tight and fully seatewd toward the end where they connect to ensure contact. also are they rusty? try a little wd-40 on the connector it is a good cleaner and conductor on electrical parts. if the plug is bad i would have someone with the tools replace, or cut and splice a new plug...they can be very hard to fix.is your car automatic climat control? if so there is a part called (by most) the Automatic temperture control module. Most likely the motor is going bad, but it could be the switch. If fiddling with the switch will make it work sometimes, replace the control panel. Otherwise, replace the motor.
If the problem is a lack of air flow from the vents, and you suspect the blower motor is not running at times, you would need to test the blower relay and blower motor for power and ground when it is not working.
The thermostat only controls how hot the engine gets. It could be the blower motor, or a blend door under the dash. You would need to check the blower motor for power and ground, if it is running a door may be stuck closed. The blend doors direct air thru the heater core and vents.
This usually happens when the switch is about to fail. This is common, believe it or not, in all GM models. It is possible that you have a loose connection between the switch and the fusebox, but since it works intermittently it is NOT the blower motor. Test your switch, I believe you may find it is failing. Thank you for trusting FixYa.com to get you going!
