Shifting problems with 1999 taurus

After dealing with the shifting problem for a couple of days now earlier the evening I drove to the store with no problem and when I return to the vehicle and started to drive it would'nt shift out of 1st gear so I pulled over in the parking lot and checked the fluid (again). everthing that I could see looked fine I turned the car off and looked at it from the underside to see if anything was obvious with no luck. got back in and the car would'nt start it made about 1 revolution and than began to click like the battery was dead. I had my buddy come to my location with jumper cables and the car won't jump either..... Any ideas???

Drove the car to the store the other day. Was in the store about 15 minutes and when I came out the car would not start. Heard nothing when I turned the key. I just replaced the battery that same day...

First you need to pin down where the problem is. Use another car to jump start your vehicle (or you can use a battery charge with the boost car function on it). If it starts it tells you that you starter and engine are good and that the problem is in the battery or charging system. If it doesn't start then it is in the starter or engine.
