Air Conditioner Light goes in and out

When using the air conditioner in my 2005 Chevy Malibu Classic it sometimes takes a couple times to come on. After its on it will flicker and go in and out while driving. If it is on and you change fan speeds, it will always go off. While the light is flickering, it seems to effect the RPMs of the car at the same time. The car was under warranty and they replaced part number 22718118 for free. It is now not under warranty the issue has come back again.

I had the same problem with my car. Its a sensor that is going bad. For a temporary fix, knock a couple of times on the right side of the console next to your air conditioner switch, it will kick back on. I had extended warranty and got it fixed - it was approximately $400 for part.

How do I check the Air Conditioner spark plugs in my 2002 Malibu?

Sounds like it is low on the coolant which causes it to only work part of the time. You could probably take the car to a auto parts store and at least here in the midwest, they can help recharge your freon/R22 so you have a good working air conditioner. If that is properly charged and leak free, then your air conditioner compressor might be going bad, but then you would hear a lot of belt squealing when it wasn't working. Most likely though it is just low on the freon/R22.

By the way, air conditioners don't have spark plugs......LOL

My 2004 chevy malibu classic 4 cyl wont start its

There are four things required for an engine to run: air, fuel, compression and properly timed spark. If you have fuel and timed spark, the only two variables are air and compression. Air is not the likely problem, and compression should be good unless you blew a head gasket or the rings in all four cylinders. How did you determine that you have fuel and spark? Those are the two most likely problem areas.

The air conditioning in my 2005 T&C stopped working. Right before it stopped there was a "burnt" smell coming through the vents. What happened?

No air coming from air conditioning vents
  1. Check the air conditioner fuse and replace as necessary.
  2. Air conditioner system discharged. Have the system evacuated, charged and leak tested by an MVAC certified technician, utilizing approved recovery/recycling equipment. Repair as necessary.
  3. Air conditioner low pressure switch defective. Replace switch.
  4. Air conditioner fan resistor pack defective. Replace resistor pack.
  5. Loose connection, broken wiring or defective air conditioner relay in air conditioning electrical circuit. Repair wiring or replace relay as necessary. Air conditioner has a smell when used
    1. The air conditioner evaporator drain hose is blocked or partially restricted, allowing condensation to build up around the evaporator and drainage tray. Clear the drain hose where it exits the passenger compartment.
    2. Check compressor clutch wiring, electrical connections and compressor clutch, and repair or replace as necessary.

Heater and Air conditioner does not go on. COuld

Could be a fuse, but try it all the way on high first. If it works on high only, it's most likely the resistor in the fan control. Hapened to mine a couple of times and Chevy charged me about $150 to fix it.
