Question about 1992 Chevrolet Astro Extended

1 Answer

Abs light is on for no apparent reason.noticed as I drove into town with only normal braking, may have been on since minutes before when I was under the dash tracing down a minor problem with cruise control wiring. can't seem to find the fuse for the abs if there is one. there is a plethora of wiring, all factory it seems, not diced and sliced as in many older rides. anyway I stopped and turned of the engine, turned it back on and the light went out after start up as normal, yet came back on 10 seconds later as I accelerated back onto the highway. I don't feel the vibration of the system when you get to 10 miles an hour or whatever, and there are no leaks. regular brake light goes out normally, and there are no trouble codes stored.

What is 13 abs under voltage 2004 jeep grand cherokee

No speed sensor signal at one of the wheels. An expensive fix just to make the light on the dash go out. ABS light on will not affect normal braking function. I would just remove the light bulb in the dash. ABS function is barely noticeable and not cost effective.

My 2007 Toyota Prius ABS light came on so we took it to the dealer. They are saying we need to replace the ABS and quoted $2500. Does this seem high to you?

The abs is part of the safety system in that it stops the wheels from locking up under heavy braking. This allows you to steer the vehicle out of a bad situation. During normal braking the ABS does not work as the wheels are turning and so there is no requirement for the system to work
If you wish to continue driving and are considerate in that you drive responsibly there is no need to race it to replace the system. I would seek a second opinion from an accredited brake specialist shop as the dealer may only want to sell parts and not repair the unit

Abs for 2001 ford excape

The ABS is controlled from the sensors at the wheels . The sensors signal when the wheel stops turning and the ABS releases the brake pressure to that wheel to allow it to turn again while maintain pressure to the other brakes. It has nothing to do with weather conditions or road conditions-- just wheels turning under brakes Under normal driving and brake applications you will not notice ABS operation as it will not be working. You will only notice the ABS assistance when you are under very heavy brakes and the sensation is a pulsing in the brake pedal under your foot. Run the fault code to check for recorded faults in the ABS or have an accredited brake shop specialist check out your concerns

its sounds like it could be a bad master cylinder with an internal could also be a problem with the abs hydraulic module that for some reason is bypassing brake fluid within the unit itself.these problems won`t neccessarily turn on the dash light or activate the abs light.

The abs light stays on after ignition of my Chrysler Town & Country 2002. Is that a major problem and what to look for?

When your ABS light stays engaged after inital startup then that signifies a problem with the ABS system itself.Normally, this does not make the vehicle unsafe to drive, unless there is a noticeable fluid loss, which would give you a very poor brake pedal.Although this vehicle can still be driveable, the ABS sytem will not work, properly.........You can physically check the brake fluid level under the hood, and even remove the wheels to look at the brake material itself, but normally ABS lights signify a greater problem, which would require a scan tool (which runs about $800 U.S. Dollars) to diagnose properly.I hope I could help......rate me accordingly

2001 Jimmy ABS and brakes lights came on

I hate to say it, but the abs control module might have died on you. Thats the boxy looking thing under the hood that has a lot of brake lines and wire connectors going into it. I have seen this happen before and it ended up being one of the speed sensors on the wheels but usually its the module. Take the truck somewhere to get the light scanned, and that will give you a better idea of what it is.

Brakes are very touchy after sitting

I thought the caprice had disk on all wheels?? But it sounds like it's time for the rear brakes to be serviced. If you do have rear drums the pads could be worn and the shoes are slipping and grabing. You can try backing up in a empty parking lot and backing up and giving full brake application. About the 7th application would reset the brakes, if that does not help then the breaks need to be serviced. Good kick
