the computer fuse is linked with the cigarette lighter/power port if you change this it should work, I had the same problem when I went to our DEQ station and they told me what to do to fix it, was quick and easy and have had no problems since.

Alternator in 1987 toyota corolla

The alternator is there to support the electrical loads of the vehicle plus recharge the battery after starting. To be sure you can identify the problem you will need a voltmeter (multimeter) Check the battery voltage with the engine switched off - you will see 12.0 to 12.6 volts depending on the state of charge. Start your engine and the voltage at the battery should go to about 14.2 volts. If it does, the alternator is charging the battery. If the voltage stays unchanged you have an alternator problem. Check drive belt and wiring at the back of the alternator - If all OK you will need to remove the alternator and replace it or have it repaired. span.jajahWrapper { font-size:1em; color:#B11196; text-decoration:underline; } a.jajahLink { color:#000000; text-decoration:none; } span.jajahInLink:hover { background-color:#B11196; }
