Question about 1988 Chevrolet Suburban

I want to replace the stereo in a 1988 Chevy Suburban, what's the best way to accomplish this task? Lots of metal in the dash and would require using a hack saw or similar metal cutting tool. Any recommendations would be appreciated

Buy a wire harness that's for your car. it will plug and play into your cars adapter, and just tie together color coded wires to radio. if you don't want to do that, and you want to wire it yourself. go to www.installdoctor.com and see if your car is listed. that gives you what color wires do what.

200 chevy suburban starts when key is turned ti the run posision and it also trys starting while driving


this sounds like the metal rod connecting the key switch to the ignition
switch below. It only connects when the key switch is rotated so that the rod is fully seated. Lots of work but have to pull steering wheel and redo installation of rod.

What all do I need to take off to check the rear brakes on a 1988 chevy suburban 2500. Where can I go to find pictures of the tear down.


Remove rear wheel and pull of drum ( make sure emergency brake is off).

Front Air Blower replacement: Is this an easy "drop in" replacement job or does the lower dash and supporting structure require removal for proper access to change the front blower.


your blower is located underneath your passenger seat leg room, removing it requires expertise and knowledge as well as proper tools since there would be lots of obstruction before you could remove the fan itself which is attached to your ac evaporator....

u need a tool to suppress the metal ring cover & then pull have moon clip out,,then the melal ring comes off then the rest;;;

1988 5.7 TBI Nightmare This is the start of what the problem was and is, I had a RV cam installed when the engine was rebuilt a year ago. the cam was not a computer friendly cam so after a round with the rebuilder and discovering the specs weren't the correct ones for the cam I installed a 3702 edelbrock cam and lifters with a 7800 timing chain and gear set after I had tried two chips from Jet and no improved performance and the 3rd chip was to be for the cam and that is what is in the ECU now and I have tried about 5 different BCC chips and the bottom line is the power is there but something is happening its hit and miss the idle will sometimes lope, is stalled when first started and acts as if its starving for fuel or its bogged with to much fuel. the fuel pressure is 10 - 13 psi and I have R/R the TPS, IAC, ESC and knocks device , EGR and Solenoid, MAP, Temp sensor, and the Dist is a Procomp 10001 with a MSD-5526 coil. the Throttle Body was rebuild and the ECM was replaced with a Rebuilt ECM. it will smell rich etc. but with the things that goes on it does not show any codes?? I have no clue just feel stupid this is been a simple thing that is kicking my **** and now its a challenge but still loosing the fight too far in and too much spent to stop,. LOL Help !!!! The BCC is a california vehicle AFBX, 5.7TBI TH400 A/T P.S. the key can be turned of and back on as the engine not dying and seems to correct the power and run problems but will not last goes back to running bad or with problems. ?
