Your fuel rail or injectors may be clogged. Or you may have a faulty fuel pressure regulator or a fuel pump that does not have a significant volume of flow.

Why do i have to hit the gas pedal in order for it to start?

It's possible either a fuel injector or the fuel pressure regulator is leaking fuel into the intake manifold causing a rich condition.

To check the fuel pressure regulator remove the vacuum line with the engine running, there should be NO fuel coming out of it.

To check the fuel injectors is far more difficult.

Tahoe acts like its ran out of gas, starts after it sits a while.then same thing.now its worse

The regulator is probably under the intake manifold along with your injectors...the pump is in the fuel tank and the filter is usually on the firewall...

There is spark and fuel up to rail but injector wont come on

sounds like the injectors are not getting a signal to squirt or no fuel . Have a pressure test done on the fuel manifold to check pump, pressure regulator pressure and filters.. check injector connection to ECM

It sounds like an air lock or a fuel pump issue. firstly get the filter changed and bled through this might help. if the problem persists check the pump.

1.9 saturn wont start

sounds like a fuel pump concern, next time it won't start see if it has fuel press, there is a pressure test port on the supply manifold that feeds the fuel injectors with gas, depress the schrader (like a tire valve) valve in it and see if pressurized gas squirts out.
