Do you know if power is getting to the fuel pump? I would test the pump directly with a 12 volt source and see if kicks on. If not, you have a problem with the wire running power to the fuel pump. If it does come on, check the following:

  • ground wire (should be going from pump to the frame somewhere)
  • Check the connections to make sure they are tight and free of corosion
Let me know if it's not one of these. Thanks for using FixYa!

I bet it's the gas. After some time the gas will no longer be volatile enough to start the car. Try draining all the fuel and putting in some fresh gas. Remember, when you try to start it again you'll need to get the new gas through the pump and lines before it will start. Also, check the condition of the injectors. Old gas can start to break down and build up a film that could be on your injectors (or clog your fuel filter- better check that too). Hope this helps.

I have a 98 s-10 it wont start it has 40 to 45 pounds of pressure & its firing getting gas but wont run i pulled the fuel pump relay n it try to run i sprayed it with start fluid it hits but if i put...

If this truck has the 4.3L vortec motor it will not start with 40-45 PSI fuel Pressure.Thius engine requires approx. 56 PSI fuel pressure or it will not start. The fuel pump more than likely needs to be replaced this is a common problem with the 4.3L vortec engine.Change the fuel pump and your problems will be solved.

Replace the fuel filter for starters (no pun-sorry) If that doesn't help try cleaning MAF sensor with spray carb cleaner and LET DRY before reassembling (Mass Air Flow sensor) big round tube after air filter, they get dirty and gummed up.

Starts runs realy rough then dies put new fuel

It sounds like you already solved your problem. Attach fuel gauge to fuel rail pressure line and monitor for fuel pressur (above 30 p.s.i. @ crank). If pressure low suspect pump. If pressure o.k. but dies out and pressure drops but restarts, check oil sending switch as this controls fuel pump. Computer primes pump for start, then oil sender powers up pump for normal operation. Check for oil leaking at terminals on sender. Also check plug connector at fuel sender on tank as they are known to melt and fail. If fuel not problem, check for spark as ignition module failure is common. Have obd2 diagnostic run to check for codes as this may help with diagnosis.

I have Chevy s-10 4.3 vortec, replace tank fuel

I'd put more fuel in it and see what happens. But I'm going to guess that you are having a problem with your injector. These cpi systems are notorisous(<spelling?) for problems.

1999 chevy blazer wont start

THE FUEL PUMP IS BAD.

if your losing fuel pressure after the pump runs the drain back valve in the pump has failed.

and i doubt that you are seeing enough fuel pressure to run a vortec engine.

low fuel pressure equals a non running vortec

Chevy fuel problem?

you can unplug the fuel pump relay from the truck. using a small piece of wire jumper from terminals 30 to 87 (they sort of make a "T"). Just before you do this have a friend remove the gas cap and listen to see if the fuel pump is running (it should kick on for 2 seconds when the key is turned on). sometimes i put a transmission funnel into the filler neck to act like a megaphone to amplify the sound of the fuel pump running. If the fuel pump runs when you do this you either have a control circuit problem or a bad relay.
