Chevy 454 exhaust

If you have a duel exhaust from front to back and 1 side is cool then there is a block in that side and the motor on that bank can not breath causing the rough running condition. Clogged Cat or muffler would be my guess or a rodent got in and got stuck.

clean the carb, or the throttle body . God only knows what all has been sucked in through that broken hose , but I would check the electrical end of it , Plugs, rotor, cap, wires, more than not, that is the rough idle problem,, check the air filter too

NOPOWER ROUGH IDLE

Sounds like you have an air leak. Check any pipes on the engine for any splits and listen for any air being sucked in

Why does my 2001 Ford Escort run rough and often die at an idle but seems fine oncethe RPMs are up?

There are two likely possibilities. One is a leaking vacuum line. Inspect the vacuum hoses closely. Listen for any tell-tale hissing sound. Oftentimes the culprit is the hose going from the PCV valve to the intake manifold. It is susceptible to cracking. While you're at it, check the condition of the PCV valve.

The other possibility is a faulty Idle Air Control (IDAC) valve. If the IDAC is not opening sufficiently, the engine will idle rough or die at idle. Try removing the IDAC entirely, so the air intake is open. If the engine idles ok with the IDAC removed, replace it with a new IDAC.

If neither one of these possibilities checks out, you will need further trouble-shooting.

COLD START ROUGH IDLE

I hate to be the barer of bad news, but may be the head gasket.

My car started with rough idle. Then very hard to start in cold weather. Next started overheating, but no output from heater. Trickling sound from behind dash board. Overflow bottle overflowing.......

I replaced the water pump, radiator cap, thermostat, coolant, fan belts, power flushed the system. Nothing worked. Some research gave me the answer.

The head gasket leak was allowing exhaust gases to enter the cooling system, displacing the coolant. After use, as engine cools, coolant is sucked back into the system and coolant seeps into the cylinder. This gets worse over time.

First thing you'll notice is the rough idle as the spark plug burns off the coolant in the cylinder. (This is especially true at low temperatures.) If it is the head gasket, the other symptoms will follow as time goes by.

1991 VW Cabriolet runs rough during idle

Check the hose between the inletmanifold and the pipe to the brakeservo it normally gets old and a crack in so the engine sucks false air on cylinder 4, causing engine to run rough or uneven.
