Transmission Torque converter clutch circuit malfunction. Might be smart to run it into dealer as it may only require a re-flash of the computer, but if not, quick & proper diagnosis may save a lot of money in the long run.

Hard to say, most times takes about 10 minutes, but might be a good question to ask when you call as rates tend to vary from shop to shop. Your other alternative would be a reputable transmission shop. Once diagnosis is done, you can decide from there, if other repairs are needed, and a second opinion never hurts.

On some cars, there is a TCC solenoid in the transmission which can be replaced by removing the bottom pan. In some cars this solenoid can't be accessed without major disassembly.

I am getting P0700 and P740 what do they mean? P0740 states that TCC Circuit Malfunctioning, what does that mean? I took my car to a repair shop and was told that it would cost me $1400 to fix it. I would...

P0700 is an information code from the transmission controller to the engine controller(computer) it says "hey I'm having trouble making the trans do what I want it to!" P0740 is a trans code saying that the TorqueConvertorControl system isn't working. Could be the solenoid pack, valve body or the torque converter itself. I would recommend to leave this for a pro! $1400 is a fair price.

My 2002 pt cruiser check engine light came on today i took it to auto zone they hooked up a computer and it came back with 2 codes wrong a p0700 and a p0740 what does this mean and is it expensive to fix

P0700 simply means there is a fault code present in the transmission module (TCM). P0740 Torque converter clutch circuit. This is usually caused by a worn out torque converter clutch which would involve replacing the torque converter and yes it would be expensive to repair if that is the cause. Diagnosis is usually made with a scanner and other equipment.

I have a 1996 Dodge 1500 4WD with check engine that shows a code P0740 and I don't know what it is. Please help

This code is for the torque converter clutch solenoid circuit. May just mean that the resistance on the solenoid is bad, but the sympyoms you are describing make me think you have bigger problems.

What does code po740 mean? What is a torque converter

P0740 is Torque converter issue. The torque converter is a device mounted between the engine and transmission. This device transfers engine power to the trans. This code may indicate posssible failure to engage, this problem will become severe causing the vehicle to stall or failure to launch. Check trans fluid levels, and have transmission serviced.

I have a 20001 Odyssey with 70,000. The check engine light and TCS light both came on. The TCS light has since gone out but the check engine remains. I went to an auto parts store and their computer came...

unfortunately it is. Contact your local dealership to see if it may still be covered under a warranty or not.

Customer Concern: The check engine light is on with the trouble code P0740 present. Tests/Procedures: 1. Test drive the vehicle and watch the tachometer. See if the automatic transmission locks up. If unable to see the RPM change, and the Engine Control Module (ECM) is turning on the lockup solenoids, then the problem has to be internal to the transmission. The transmission has an extended warranty from Honda for 7 years or 100,000 miles. Potential Causes: Automatic Transmission
Lock-Up Solenoid
Torque Converter
Tech Tips: TSB #02-062 Diagnostic Codes: P0740

torque converter lock-up solenoids are at the top of the transmission on the OUTSIDE. The two came off with three bolts and the screens on mine were clogged with "lint".
