Lights and fan belt squeaking

My dash lights and by parking lights quit working on my 1999 nissan frontier truck, and also why is my fan belt making a terrible squeaking sound?

How do I fix this?

The fan belt is probably just getting a bit older and drying out...so it creates the effect like rubber sneakers on a waxed floor...very squeaky. It shouldn't hurt your performance, and might be able to be remedied with chalk in powder form.

A small amount of this has helped stop squeaky belts before, but generally, a new fan belt doesn't cost much to get installed. If the fan belt itself is visibly cracking or chipping in a place where it bends, it's time to get a new one.

As for the light problems...it's probably a fuse. You could check the lights themselves, but it's probably a fuse issue. Your fuse box will either be somewhere on the topside of your engine compartment, or near the steering column somewhere on the dashboard's underside. Best of luck!

Sound like a electrical problem or bad harnesses connections; you will need to take off instrument cluster in order to check it. Also, check ground connections.

Hope helps.

ATP = Automatic Transmission Park Warning Light.

The light indicates that the automatic transmission parking function is not engage.

Shift the transfer control shift lever into the 2H, 4H or 4L position when the warning lights comes ON. __________________

2003 nissan frontier dash lights quit working. could it be the dimmer switch? all fuses were good.

In my 94 maxima this problem was solved by replacing a relay - but my gauges didn't work either.

You probably have a loose connection - jiggle the wires, unplug then plug in wiring harness. Start underneath the dash because it is the easiest, then you may have to remove the instrument cluster (this sounds tough but should only take 10 minutes - just need to remove some screws).
