Question about 2002 Pontiac Bonneville

When My engine is cold, and running, the needle is at the 40 PSI mark. However when the engine is hot, the needle drops back to about 8 PSI, and stays there when the car is being Driven. Is this normal.

I doubt it. That is a sign of old oil that should be changed I think. But it could also be the sender module is leaking and drops down incorrectly. You could try a mechanical oil pressure guage to compare. Harbor Freight sells them for less than $10.

What is the running temperature for a kia sportage 2 litre deisil automatic

In the most general of terms a diesel engine would operate at 86-92 C.

However, much depends on the distance you are driving. On a very short trip(s) your needle is unlikely to get much above cold on the gauge. That's because an engine needs a minimum of 5 miles before the thermostat begins to open to allow coolant to circulate, and 10 miles before your engine is getting to 'normal operating temperature'.

The ideal position of the needle is N - normal ... midway between cold and hot.

If, on a long run, the needle doesn't get much past the cold mark it's probably due to either a faulty coolant sensor temperature sending a wrong reading to the gauge, or a thermostat which is stuck in the open position.

If the needle is indicating too hot - again it could be a faulty temperature sensor, a faulty thermostat - or other problems.

With a fully warmed engine and sitting in traffic/idling your needle would creep from Normal to Hot .. and then the electric fan would kick in.

Front AC cold but Rear AC very hot

Not likely, but Is Hot water flowing to heater coil in back? How hot is "very hot" Is it a refrigerant line? If a refrigirant line, Very Hot means it is hot gas from the compressor that "should be going to the condenser coil usually in front of the radiator. It's almost impossible for that Hot refrigerant gas to go to the cooling coil in the back unless you had some repairs done and they weren't certified. My guess is the radiator hot water is not being controlled properly, due to bad valve or control system components.

What should the cold start oil psi and the 190 degree warm up oil psi be on a 2000 to 2002 gmc Yukon with a 5.3 eng

Different engines can show different values. Sometimes it is the sensor itself that causes the variation. The pressures that you are witnessing are well within operation norms and are nothing to be worried about. As long as you don't experience severe drops in oil pressure during acceleration and deceleration, then the oil pressure system is working well.

1999 Z-71 with high mileage (224,000) I lose oil pressure as the engine warms up. Cold start I run 40-50 PSI but after it warms up it drops to around 20-25 as long as your foot is in the pedal. When I...

I dont want to be the one to bring you bad news, but you most likly have engine wear. Bearing clearances, oil pump clearances all are getting out or tollarences. you can improve this by using 15/40 mptor oil , or heaver, but that is a patch. for a long shot change the oil presure sending unit or better yet use a mechanical gauge to verify the true pressure

Sounds like you need an oil change! refill with the proper grade of oil. When the oil is cold it has the effect of having the oil pressure higher than when hot.

VW Golf 2000 1.6 16v automatic. Coolant temp. too low.

Is the heater nice and hot when the needle shows low temp? If the cooling fans turn on and the heater is hot, that leads me to believe the coolant temperature sensor is bad. You should try replacing that sensor. They are only $6 usd here. As long as your check engine light is not on and your fans are running, this will not hurt your car... but this is something you should fix soon if you can. Make sure the engine is cold when you replace the sensor

Fans do not come on when engine is running but they do when the air conditioner is turned on why?

is your engine temperature already high?...as you start the engine cold, these fans wont run right away. it will wait for the engine to get hot before it runs.
normally as the needle reaches the halfway mark, it should run by then.

wait for about 20 mins idling or untill the needle just pass the middle mark.

if the needle is past halway and almost 3/4 already, then you have a problem.

tnx 4 using fixya...

i hope i fix ur problem...
