Our fuel pump stopped working on our 98 Chevy Blazer V6 4.3L Vortec Engine, so we bought a new one. A couple days later (before replacing the fuel pump) it started up and ran but ran crappy. So we did

what did you do (replace it) if you still have a miss you may need to tune it up / make sure the fuel pump you bought is for the right psi for your blazer

5.7 liter vortec runs fine on startup then boggs down

check the fuel pump pressure you might not be getting the amount of fuel your truck needs to keep running an easy way to check is to tap the gas when it starts to bog if it picks back up thats what the problem is.

Loss of power while driving. Thought it was a vapor lock. Had this once before and the car later started. This time engine turns over but will not stay running.

Hello,

Thanks for using FixYa.

The possible cause of loss of power is:

1. Low fuel pressure (Need to check the fuel filter and fuel pump. Fuel pressure needs to be above 45psi)

2. Dirty air filter (try replacing the air filter if its dirty)

3. Clogged fuel lines (use fuel line cleaner additive)

4. Bad ignition timing (use a timing gun to make sure your engine timing is correct)

These are the most common causes of loss of power for any combustion type engine.

I hope this helps you isolate the issue. Thanks and good day.

Problems starting a 2000 Sonoma 4.3l vortec engine

It could be a bad fuel pump located usually under the rear of the vehicle on either passenger or driver side. Or you need to replace the fuel filter may be plugged up.

Good Luck!

The engine boggs down at high rpm. For instance, hesitates and boggs down when going up a hill or highway speeds. Idles normally and runs fine at low speeds.

if the fuel filter hasn't been changed do so, if the fuel filter is ok and has been changed out due to this problem you will need to monitor the fuel pressure under a load and make sure it doesn't drop below 45 PSI, it it does you will need to replace the fuel pump and the fuel filter. U also do say if you have a check engine light or have had the system tested for trouble codes that may be triggered by this loss of power problem.

Update to this problem: Told to try starting fluid, no response.

Get a good psi reading on the fuel pressure. These engines are very picky if the pressure is + - more than 7psi it will not open the injectors correctly.
Is it a vortec?
