Question about 1993 Lexus Ls 400

Rear air shocks may need replacing. car is sitting low in the rear.  how expensive could this be.  require a dealer  to replace?

Have a shop check it you may just need the level sensor adjusted.

Why won't rear end raise up ?


I have a 2000 Lincoln Town car, had the same problem, it was the rear air suspension/shocks. They are air bags basically that levels your car and it cost about $300.00 for each at the dealer for parts and install but it also has its own motor that inflates and deflates these air bags and I also had to replace that and that cost over $400.00 installed at the dealer.

My air suspention quit working so my rear end is really low and is riding rough I tried to reset the switch in the trunk still don't work then today it died and won't start but still turns over what #


It may be helpful for you to get some idea of the mechanism involved in operating the shock absorbers in your vehicle. Refer this information. It may then be a matter of finding the parts involved if replacement is required

Condition

Some customers may comment on the rear suspension being uneven or sagging.

Correction

DO NOT REPLACE THE COMPRESSOR.

Based on technician feedback, engineering has determined that the customer's concern can be corrected by recalibrating the air spring sensor. Refer to the Trim Height Uneven or Low diagnostics and Air Spring Sensor Calibration procedure found in SI.

I had the rear shocks replaced, but the rear of the car still sits too low. The shop says it may be a sensor or the pump. Should I take it to a bick dealer?


Hello: I would highly recommend taking your car to a Buick dealer. It may cost a little more but in the long run it may save you money due to improper diagnoses and parts being replaced that were not required.

How do i tell if rear air shocks need replacement?


CHECK AND MAKE SURE THAT THEY ARE FULL OF AIR AND THEN CHECK THEY FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS TO SEE IF THEY GO DOWN, AND IF THEY DO THEY ARE LEAKING AND NEED TO BE REPLACED

2005 denali service ride control / air suspension pump


the leak almost 100% of the time is in the air bags of the shocks, there are special tools for isolating the individual shocks and seeing if they leak, but as far as the home repair goes u just replace them or have the dealer test them.

"check ride control" /suspension problems?


That is an indication that your air shocks at the rear needs to be replaced or there is a sensor that may have gone bad, event the air pump mey not be working. Most owners replace the more expensive air shocks with good conventional shocks like Monroe Reflex Shocks if there not towing heavy trailers. You can have the conventional shocks installed and have the ride control system deactivated. First check your fuse just t make sure the fuse to the air compressor has not gone bad, and the air ride leveling sensor, wire harness has not been damaged due to corrosion.

It's time to replace the rear shocks. There expensive like $250.00 and up each and if your not going to be towing, most people replace them with a good set of shocks and not the factor OEM air shock which you have for the auto ride height system. If your going to just buy and good set of normal gas shocks. Pull the fuse to     the auto ride system so the light on the dash is off.
Good luck and hope this helps. The auto ride system was there for towing heavy trailers to keep the ride hight. The rear suspension is actually soft so you have a soft ride and the shock keeps it from bouncing. If your not towing heavy or carring heavy loads, you should be fine with a conventional gas shocks and you may find it better. I found the Monroe Reflex shocks to be more stable then the OEM around corners and highway driving.
