It's amazing that our systems don't leak earlier wince the refrigerant is 'thin' (small molecules) and the system components being shaken all the time. If you care to stay clear of shops, you can buy a kit that will allow you to check charge pressure with a gauge attached and give you access to the system for recharging while you monitor the process.
I don't know if your Subaru uses the current R-134 refrigerant or not. If it doesn't, a shop may have to do this for you since us normal mortals aren't supposed to have the earlier-used refrigerant; R-12. R-12 damaged the ozone layer . . . oh, wait, so does R-134. Good show governent, way to make Dupont richer.

The system is likley low on gas, causing the low pressure switch to dis-able the compressor clutch.
Check the low gas pressure switch by briefly looping the switch out of circuit.
If the compressor clutch now engages normally it confirms low system gas (Don't run for long like that or it will ruin the compressor).
Get the system re-gassed and checked for leaks.

I have a Lincoln LS 2002 3.9 V8. When temp is below 45 degrees the fuel pump will not engage I turn the key on /off the fuel pump will engage and it starts and runs fine takes longer when colder

I can't tell you where the fuel pump relay is. Find it, just pull it out and reinsert it. Then find the pump fuse, do the same. Sounds like a corrosion problem. If this doesn't work, you may have to go to the pump plug. Fixed many different parts that were fine when warm out. Got cold and may or may not work. Most recently was a starter. Clicked in the morning, did fine in the afternoon. Loosened the cable nut and retightened, fixed.

Stalling on highway

Maybe 2 things. Check to see if fuel pump is working. Have someone sit in car and turn ignition switch on not starting the car while the other person takes off gas cap and listens to hear fuel pump engages. If fuel pump engages then take off fuel filter and replace with new filter. If problem continues have a fuel pressure check done on fuel pump. If fuel pump weak then replace. Hope this solves your problem.

On my 01 grand vitara i changed the 4wd pump behind the bumper the indicator light for 4wd now comes on but 4wd still does not engage

what does engage mean.? it fails on ICE or DIRT

engaged, means, (mechanically) one tire front and rear have traction

with LSD front and rear all 4 have traction and spin on ice

does it?

part time 4wd dont work on dry pavement so that is my 1st question

why not state, what you are driving on, and what does engage means

by what means did you check engaged.????

this car is not AWD, do you know the difference from AWD and

Part time 4wd? the diff, is there is center differential. on part time

so must be (true test) tested on ice, or dirt.

see the videos here, or a demo.

or on ice. ice you will see front and rear both working,

on dry plave ment all you get is windup... very very bad to do

in traffic, causing you to wreck and other to get , hurt.

if you understand all that, then do say what you mean

ENGAGED.

if you know what windup is and it dont, then you are correct

its not engaged. (jack left front tire up, engage it and feel it? by turning the the tire, it must fight you)

front up, rear down. in 4wd.

here it it is again.

http://www.fixkick.com/part-time-test.html

if it dont engage for real,. may i introduce you to the FSM

its in my hand now.

page 3B-3 . see it?

switch closes in xfr case

ECU sees that and powers up the air pump.

if pressure is good the Ecu is told that, if wrong you get scanned DTC code saying just that (obd2 scan too)

the pump has 2 shut off modes, good pressure. and fails to hold for 10seconds. (prevents pump from running all time)

if all the above works the Lamp glow by PCM command.

if you have full pressure , the lock in the front axle is now locked

no pressure, no lock yes full pressure it must lock or the axle

actuator is bad.

the page 3B6 says pressure is 4.25 to 6.40

page 3b10 is the acutator test. and the TRUE ENGAGE TEST

front wheels off ground.

apply 4.2psi with shop air and reg.at the acutator nipple

1: you spin one tire, the other spins backwards (GOOD test)

kill the 4.2 psi supply air

2: you spin one tire.

and the other tire, does nothing, (remains stationary)

pass. test 2.

test one is locked

test 2 is 2wd.

the other tests are on ice or dirt.

does that help?

1988 Ford Ranger 2.9L A/T, 2wd, A/C. Won't Start. Fuel pump does not come on. Scan tool cannot connect to the ECM. Verified Fuel pump Relay good. Ground to STO Fuel pump pin will engage the fuel...

The engine computer must be working to get spark and fuel injector pulse. I would want to know if the computer has power and is functional. The computer grounds the EEC relay and the fuel pump relay as well as the injectors.

Front washer fluid is not working but rear is

Most washer solvent bottles share a common resevoir. The rear washer pump is located above the front pump. Try filling resevoir completely. If this does not solve the problem, listen for pump howling when you engage it. If it engages & howls & still wont work, possibly rear nozzle is plugged. Disconnect hose to it. If you engage it & it squirts, nozzle is plugged. Try blowing through it with air hose or pick it out with a fine pick. If no noise or fluid either way pump will need to be replaced.

Intermittent fuel pump engagement when turning key - 2001 Taurus

try cleaning the connector that goes to the fuel pump, sometimes they corrode on inside. If that does not fix, test the wires feeding fuel pump with a multi meter until the condition shows itself again, if voltage drops to zero or very low then wiring problem, if voltage is unchanged with problem and fuel pump is not working and connectors are all clean, try replacement of fuel pump.

My 2002 gmc 1500 4x4 is not working. it says it is engaged but still in 2 wheel drive. sounds like the front actuator is engaging. what should i do?

Have you had the vacuum pump checked that moves the transfer case in and out of engagement? GM for years has used a vacuum pump system to do this and can fail fairly easily.
