Volvo 2002 s80 engine light continues to stay on,oxygen sensors have been replaced. What other problems are considered most frequent when the light stays on?

My 2002 S80 Volvo has a a/c fan of some sort that constantly is running. Even when I am driving it stays on the entire (short/long) trip. Sounds like a electric razor that is turned on and stays on.

It could be any one of a hundred problems. My check engine light came on once because my gas cap was dirty. but you can stop by Autozone or pretty much any auto parts store and they will be able to hook it up to a thing that will tell you exactly what the problem is.

the word correlation means relationship between two or more items . In this case it means that when the crank shaft sensor is triggered then the camshaft sensor has to be in agreement that the position of the piston and valves is in the right position to allow spark and fuel.. there are air gaps between each sensor and the rotor that triggers them and if this is not correct or there is dirt in the air gap ( the sensors may be a bit advanced or retarded in the fitment holes) then this relationship of positions is being interfered with and so you get the fault code. If after rechecking the fitment of the sensors and using a scanner to put the engine light off ,you still have a problem ,I would suggest that you find an accredited shop the does a lot of work on your make of car to assist with the fault.

What' mean Heater Control Circuit Sensor,Bank2,Sensor 1,Volvo S80,2000?


Heater control circuit is your O2/oxygen sensor which controls your emissions and keeps the car running efficiently. They go out quite frequently and need to be replaced. Wont cause any drivability issues other then lower fuel economy and check engine light. Sensors run between $50-$200 each.

I have code: 280a,front oxygen sensor code on my 1999 volvo s80 t6. can this mean that it is dirty or does it need to be replaced?


A code indicating an oxygen sensor fault usually means the oxygen sensor is bad. Cleaning the sensor will only make it worse, you can only replace it.

easiest way is to put it on a diagnostic computer,but it sounds like your lambda probe (oxygen sensor)or cat may be due for renewal....

Where is the oxygen sensor, bank 1 sensor 1, located on a 2000 Toyota Solara? What is the best one to purchase for replacement?


B1S1 means first (upstream) , closest sensor to cyl. head , usualy at exhaust manifold.Bank 1 is cyl. head with cyl.#1 if you have V6 engine.
Best choice for brand - Denso.

I have had oxy sensors replaced but the engine light keeps coming on. I take it in, they turn off the light two weeks later its back on.


If the fault code relates to the oxygen sensors, make sure that they used Volvo factory sensors. The aftermarket sensors (even Bosch) have not worked well in the S80s. Also, make sure the catalytic converter is not causing the problem (the rear oxygen sensor monitors the cat).

I have a volvo s80 t6 with error codes 171 and 174 it says lean air fuel mixture the engine runs rough sorta like its skipping. What needs to be checked and possible replaced ?


2 things to check air leaks from air box tomanifold where it meets at engine check mass air flow sensor and oxygen sensor start with common sense things first

Transmission Service Required message


They are correct as to the Location of the Sensor and, It would be a Time Consuming and Expensive Repair But, If you are not getting the Red Caution Light I would have the Tranny Flushed and Filled and see if it is not Just Buildup on the Sensor. It could actually Release itself. If not you will eventually have to get a Rebuild Buut, Try the Flush and Fill First.
