Question about 1999 Toyota Camry

Open Question

The gauge fuse for my 1999 camry keeps blowing.

The radio is factory original and we have had the car 3 years with no changes to any electrical device. The battery suddenly was not strong enough to start engine so we suspect that there is a drain somewhere in the system. The power windows do not work with the gauge fuse blown but do after replacement. There does not appear to be a specific trigger that blows the fuse. ie use power windows or whatever.

you can try a bigger fuse and if it still blows it then you have a short in one of the wires. i then you will have to hunt down the short that can take awhile.

1999 Camry gauge fuse keeps blowing. Have unplugged oil, fuel, temp sending units. Also unplugged neutral safety switch, speed sensor and light failure relay.

First thing I would do is plug all those others back up and unplug the gas gauge. You probably have a short in the gauge itself that is blowing the fuse. Replacing it may be your only option and I am sure they put it where it will be easy to get to. Sorry no easy answers, except put 5 Gallons and a funnel in the trunk and guess at it.

1999 toyota camry gauge fuse blowing up

You now know the fuse only powers the cluster.
A mechanic would check for shorts to ground at the connector for the cluster. The gauges are grounded thru the sending units.
