Check the batteries in your car key if its electronic. If it has a RFID in the key that can stop the car from working because it is a security device.

Security light flashes and won't start 02 lincoln ls

How old & what condition is the battery,on an LS
they only seen to last 4.5 years

Try only one Ford- approved PATS key that is programmed & you know has been working & nothing else nearby, such as a key chain
with other objects

Does the LED indicator flash rapidly or glow steady for 3 seconds,
with key in Run or Start ,if so, you got problems & will need a scan tool to get the codes, not a code reader.

Does the starter turn over the motor?

Need at least 2 keys programmed to system

You got at least 7 fuses to check on 2 of the 3

My 2004 Lincoln ls has been acting up. First it was running rough so I changed coil on 4 and then 2 seven monthes later after which car ran great. Now on two occasions when triing to start alarm goes off...

I don't think going to AutoZone for codes is of much
value to anyone

Obviously your LS don't miss on 4 cyl or have 4 bad coils

You didn't need to replace any coils except the one that fails,
which is 1 or 2 a year on that car.

You most likely have one really bad coil that sets all kinds
of codes.

You can buy one new coil & walk it every couple days until
you get to the bad one or go to a repair shop with an oscilloscope
and the correct inductive coil adapter.

You need to use the correct OEM style plugs (NGK)
were the motorcraft mfg.

Check alternator output with a scope & make sure
the battery isn't more than 4 years old. Todays cars
are sensitive to voltage, current, resistance and grounds

Make a very long technical story short,
because I have the same car

You have 1 really bad COP Ignition Coil

$59.00 at auto parts and takes 15 min to install

You should have PO301 thru PO 308 Codes
as well as a lot of others

Hi! i have 2004 lincoln ls 3.9leters,i have spotering problem and also have a code p0305,p0308,and i change the coil, but steel the same problem.

You changed both the #5 COP Coil (PO305) &
the #8 Coil (PO308) ?

Sometimes the codes are correct and sometimes not
When you get more than one coil code,it gets tougher
You may have to walk a new coil until you find the bad one.

I have the same car

The EGR Valve should have failed by now

I just put an oscilloscope on my O2 Sensors
with 108,000 miles and they looked okey.
I replaced the front two,it is like a new car,
very sensitive to gas pedal input and runs great.

Give me more if you need help
Very tough car to work on,very high tech.
Stay away from a dealer. Talk to me

I just replace the coil packs in the 05 lincoln LS less than a year ago. If I get autozone to run a check on the car, will the codes come up as to which coil is bad?

I asked you get back to me on the other page.
You will have 1 or 2 COP Coils go bad every year
I also own a 2004 V8

Yes and no
I asked that you get the codes

PO301 thruPO308,the last # being the cylinder

If you get just a MIL Lamp and say a PO 303,you can
replace that coil and see what happens

The example I gave you on the ETC Failsafe, is not something a dealer
is aware of. People on this site have spent up to $4000.00 at a dealer
when my 1 bad coil, you install yourself, would have cost $70.00

You will get several codes that you ignore, on an LS and stay with the
coil swapping.

I hope you have a V8 or the intake will have to be removed to do some

You may want my phone #, so you can knock this down your self
Do you have a 7mm wrench and socket. That is all you need on a V8

To answer your question another way
If autozone gives you several codes,3 are coil codes ,then what?
I have the answer,it it not to replace all the coils.

2003 lincoln ls what does the codes 420 and 430 mean

PO420--Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank1)
PO430-- " " " " " (Bank2)

O2 Sensor
Coolant Temp Sensor
High Fuel Pressure
Bad Converter

Owning a 2004 V8 myself--I will say your need to go thru the entire engine, as to how it is running
It may be overheating due to coil misfires or other issues and ruined the

You need to solve all issues before replacing a converter
I would stay far away from a dealer, unless you have a couple thousand to spend
