Emergency brake light stays on. If you jiggle the brake, it goes off. I assume its the switch. Where can I find guidance on how to replace it.

All data / Mitchell on demand or Chilton or Haynes manuals all have info on things like that. The switch is up under the dash on the e brake handle assembly it has one wire to disconnect and remove the switch. But first check its adjustment. You may have just bent it and it needs to be adjusted so it will stay off in the released position. Good luck

EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHT WON'T GO OFF

Not sure what model vehicle you have. Look at the emergency brake pedal, and see if it is supposed to hit a switch when the pedal is released - it may be the switch it out of adjustment and needs adjusted.

Have someone watch the light while you run your finger along the entire length of the pedal to see if the light goes out when you hit the switch. This assumes the issue is mechanical.

Emergency brake light on my 1994 Toyota Camry won't shut off even after I replaced e-brake light switch.

If you disconnect the wire(s) coming from the switch, does the light say on? If so, there may be a short to ground fro the switch to the lamp. You would need to replace or have the wire replaced.

1989 GMC SIERRA BRAKE LIGHT IN DASH STAYS ON [CHECKED FOR AIR IN BRAKE LINES-NO AIR] [BRAKE FLUID LEVEL GOOD] [BRAKE PEDAL PULLED UP] IN DASH BRAKE LIGHT STAYS ON

Check your emergency brake. Make sure it isn't partially pressed in. Try unplugging the switch to the emergency brake and see if the light goes out; if it does the switch is bad.

My 1991 Omtero brake awrning light stays on... All pads and shoes are good, resevoir is full, and brakes are functioning... When emergency brake is raised the light gets brighter, and goes back to dim when...

Sounds like you need to replace the switch that goes to the parking brake. This switch is located close to the parking break and it's only function is to remind you that the parking brake is on. You can get this part from any major part store.

Location of the emergency rear brake switch n a

Hello. I assume that you want to know the location of the switch that activates the brake light on the dash when the park brake lever is pulled. It is under the rear of the park brake handle; you need to remove the console to see it.

However...if your brake light in your dash is staying ON, I would first suggest that you look at the level of brake fluid in the master cylinder reservoir. If it is low, the light will come on, also. The fluid level in the master cylinder drops proportionally as the brake wear. I would bet that your fluid is low; about an ounce of fluid decrease will light up the brake light.

Emergency brake light stays on brakes ok fluids ok

2 issue may cause the light to stay on. 1st, the brake resevior switch in faulty, the cap with two wires attached to it. Secondly, the emergency brake switch is faulty causing the light to stay on. to replace the switch. Both are cheap and very easy to replace and fix.
