I am getting a popping sound when a take off from complete stop,in drive or reverse. Could this be u-joints and if so how hard is it to replace these myself?

Don't think it's brakes, it definately seems to happen well after brakes are released and right after gas is touched. Really loud popping or thud sound but really don't think it's brakes. Thanks for the input though.

You may be thinking beyond your problem? Your rear brakes may need some attention and could be sticking. This could make a "pop" or low "thud" each time you take off from a complete stop.

Have toyota tacoma 2003 4x4 sr5 have clunking sound seems like coming from drive line help plz

A clunking sound is usually a universal joint that is going out. Check the joints by getting under the truck and trying to shake the drive shafts near the joints. The other cause could be the pinion (front or rear) has developed slack. You may see some slack at the pinion bearing of the axle housing when you shake the drive shaft.

I was driving my 99 Grand Cherokee limited in 4Lo then it just popped out of 4Lo into neutral and will not re engage! When i put it into 4Lo it just revs and grinds when i step on the gas and truck wont...

Try putting the truck into reverse before going into neutral, then put it into 4-lo. Sounds like the transfer case linkage might need to be adjusted, nothing major. I've owned NUMEROUS Jeeps, and every one with an auto tranny was a PITA to get into 4-lo. And if it isn't engaged completely, it will pop out every time.

I would recommend pulling the driveshaft and inspect the U-joints, if that is not the problem it is possibly caused by the pinion output shaft in the rear end, that was the case with mine. Hope this helps get you going in the right direction

Oil on the engine and popping noise when turning

You dont state the engine size. A ny oil leak whether dripping on the floor or remaining on the engine should be investigated as there should NOT BE ANY WET OIL LEAK. Grime is another story and should be cleaned appropriately. The "popping " noise you're hearing turning slowly sounds likw a bad CV ( constant velocity ) joint on the front axle. There are 2 cv joints on each front axle. Possilble leaking boot throwing grease near the back of the front wheel to indicate which joint is noisy. Check the B/U light fuse. Hope this helps.

The transmission will need to come out and be torn down. The reverse shift fork is probably broken.
