My car is running hot i checked the coolant fluids and everything was full but it seems to happen when i turn my a/c on please help

2007 pontiac g6 leaking fluid on drivers side


You may have an air pocket in your coolant system and it pushing fluid out, check your coolant fluid level when cold and fill to proper level then run the car for 20 min turning the heat on inside the car to allow fluid to go through the heater core, always watch temperature if it gets too hot during procedure stop and let it cool then top off fluids again and repeat till fluid level is full and air is out.

It seems to have something with the cooling system. Does it run hot, low power, backfire? Possible coolant sensor, low coolant, but you had all this work done already. faulty timing belt work, Was it happening before the work? First stay on top of this shop until its resolved. I hate to say it but get another opinion if they wont back their work. I advise u not to return in the future.

My car will not sift into gear. it will come and everything but it will only shift to park and nothing else. I am parked on a tiny hill and that could be the reason because this has never happened before.


Try to get the car to level ground. Let the engine idle, giving the transmission time to warm up and get fluid circulating throughout the gears. Let it run/sit for about 15-20 minutes idling. Then, Slowly try to put the car into each gear. Do not try to jam it. If it will not go, do not force it. Also, with the engine running, check the transmission fluid and make sure it's full. Always check this when it's hot, not cold. If this is a manual (5 speed) make sure the oil is full (this is checked when engine is cold, but can be check while hot; as long as the oil level is well above the "full" mark, (due to circulating), it's full. If it's below or at the full mark while hot, it needs about half a quart.

Intermittent heat


Hi BSM,

Intermittent heat is usually the result of a low coolant state. What happens is the heater core isn't getting the circulation necessary to keep the air warm. The irony is that your engine will run hotter when this happens.

To fix this, start with a cold engine and open the radiator fill cap.
Start the engine and top off the coolant.
Let the engine keep running and warm up.
When it begins to cycle the coolant check the level again. Top it off again.
Turn the heater on full blast
Keep topping after each cycle until it stops needing fluid.

At that time the heater should be blowing hot air consistently.

You have to bleed the coolant system.There are some bleeder screws,with hex heads on them.Hold the bottom nut and gently loosen the top until water and air flow,with the system not running.When the air is not present,tighten back down gently.If the air won`t bleed out,then fill the coolant reservoir over the full mark about 3/4 way full.Make sure radiator is full,and start engine with ac off.Let it run befor it bubbles or gets too hot,turn engine off,and let it set for about 35 to 45 minutes.Check coolant reservoir to see if the coolant level has dropped.It should have dropped,if so repeat until the reservoir stops loosing fluid.The fans should come on,and go off by them selves.When this happens,then the cooling system is perfect.This I hope helps,please let me know the outcome.roniecon@gmail.com

I have antifreeze comeing out of the fill cap when driving . It doesnt do it all the time but it seems like it cycles about every 20 to 30 minutes but it does seem to do it every time I pass a car or rev...


Where is your coolant level when your engine is completely cold?
you have two marks on your fill bottle a Cold and Hot line.If you over fill your bottle you will always push out fluid.
Make sure your not running hot on your engine when this happens,if it is you could have an over heating problem with the engine.

Coolant resevoir question


First, going two months without checking fluids leaves you open to not know when it started to get low. If you are filling the tank with gas, then you should check all the other fluids as well. By the book, you have two marks on the overflow container, COLD & HOT, normally we add coolant to the COLD level becuase of expansion when HOT it could overflow and waste coolant. So the new shop did not do anything bad, and the old shop should have advised you to check fuild levels often. In either case over two months evaporation could have reduced the coolant in the resevoir. It would be a good idea for the next few weeks to check it prior to starting the vehicle each day and not the level when cold, then check it when it has had time to warm up, such as when fueling the vehicle. Constanly having to add coolant is a serious condition that MUST be corrected soon or could lead to more serious engine failure. Hope this helps you.

Radiator coolant or reservoir tank always full


Relax, there is no problem.

When the water / coolant gets hot (inside of radiator/engine) it starts to boil, ofcourse when it boils, it expands, so the fluid in the radiator has to go somewhere, thats why there is the overflow reservoir. So, when the fluid boils, some moves to the reservoir to avoid any potential problems with the radiator, such as it blowing up, or not being able to cool off all of the fluid running through the engine.

But relax, its normal.

My 1986 plymouth turismo runs hot and overheats


You say it gets hot and overheats, are you losing coolant when it overheats? If it isn't boiling over, you seemed to cover everything that could be wrong, the fan is working, if it is not boiling over, just registering hot on the gauge, I wonder if it's just a temp. sending unit that's bad, indicating a overheating problem when there really isn't one. The water pump is bad when the shaft bearings go bad, and it will leak at that point. So, let me know if the car is actually boiling over (steam visible, exiting the cooling system)
