Does it die when doing a steady speed, or only when you let off on gas pedal?

I am no expert, but has been reading up on the MPV. From what I have read up, faulty ignition coils and transmission issues (may require a free TCM reflash) are a regular issue with 2002 model onwards. Also a broken PCV hose. Please check that. Hope this helps

I had the same problem with my chevy impala, it would die on me right in the middle of driving or coming to a stop like in drive through. I found that in the box the had relays and fuses there was a loose relay in there and all i had to do was push it in better and then my problem stopped. I hope it is the same with yours.

2003 mountaineer dies while coming to a stop but will restart

Could be several things. But to start, check or replace the air filter. Use brake clean to clean the MAF sensor, just spray it, both sides. (between the filter and throttle body). And clean the throttle body on the inside( use a toothbrush and clean the back side of the plate and where is sits). Check for vacuum leaks.

Batteries keep dying

The idle is controlled by the engine computer through the idle air control valve. This valve will be mounted on the throttle body assembly-where the big air boot from air filter attaches. This valve can get deposits built up, restricting idle air flow to the engine. Take it off and clean it, and the air passages it sits over. Be looking also for a vacuum or air leak. Check the ends of the vacuum hoses for splitting or cracks that leak.

1998 mazda mpv code p0170 erase code car runs fine but when i stop for a few minutes it is hard to start and runs rough the engine light comes back on and the code will read p0170 again

This code indicates a fuel ratio problem. I would start by inspecting all the vacuum lines, including the pcv hose and power brake hose. Carefully inspect the air intake hose. This is the large hose between the throttle body and the airflow meter. If this hose is cracked or loose the computer will not sense how much air is being drawn into the engine and it will be hard to start.

99 RX300 Engine code keeps coming up lean

Check for vacuum leaks. ie, vacuum lines them selves, the rubber tube that runs from the air filter to the throttle body. If it has a plastic intake manifold, possibly the rubber port seal gaskets between it and the engine. Lean codes are set when the PCM isn't monitoring all the air coming into the engine (vac leak) or low fuel pressure.
