2000 gmc jimmy will not go into overdrive?

This is usually a transmission problem (probably the torque converter lock solenoid not engaging, and there can be a number of reasons for this). A transmission shop can sort this out.

Article 96-26-21 is being republished in its entirety as part of a consolidated 7.3L diagnostic aid booklet.
ISSUE
Some vehicles with transmissions built prior to 11/13/95 (5L13) may exhibit a driveline resonance/vibration between 1400 and 2000 RPM with the torque convertor engaged. This may be caused by the torque converter.
ACTION
Prior to torque converter replacement, refer to the following Service Procedure for details to verify conditions.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Verify the resonance/vibration does not occur in neutral and is most noticeable between 1400 and 2000 RPM with the converter clutch engaged during medium to heavy throttle conditions. Also watch for the vibration to diminish at engine speeds lower than 1400 and higher than 2000 RPM. If the concern meets all of these conditions and the transmission has a built date prior to 11/13/95 (5L13), replace the torque converter. Refer to the appropriate Service Manual for removal and installation procedures.
2. If the vibration concerns do not meet the conditions, check for non-factory installed items that could affect driveline and verify proper installation. Also refer to the appropriate Service Manual, Section 05-00 for diagnosis and testing.

When we try to put Jimmy in Reverse or D, engine seizes up. Engine will restart and idles fine. All fluid levels are fine. We checked emergency brake and made sure vehicle was in 2H. (4WD). No visible...

Sounds like a lock-up torque converter that is stuck in the 'locked' position.

Google for that, find the wire that tells the torque converter to lock and then unplug it, see what you get.

If unplugging it works, and you don't want to put the money into finding out what the issue was, you can put that wire on a switch and just switch it on when you're on the freeway. You could also hook it into the cruise control so it only locks up when you set the cruise.

What does a lock up solinoid do? If bad will it keep engine from starting?

The lock up solenoid locks the torque converter so that is a direct link between the transmission and the engine. If the lock up solenoid is stuck or the torque converter is stuck in the locked position the vehicle should still start but will die as soon as you put it into gear.

How do i replace a tcc solenid in a 95 beretta 3.1 v-6

its just a sensor plug on the tranny, the solenoid reads the speed of the transmission (car) and sends the signal to the computer which identifies that the car has reached proper crusing speed and is not under heavey load (full throttle) it then "locK" the torque converter to not allow any slippage like a standard automatic torque converter, basically making the torque converter act like a clutch,,, thus the name TCC torque converter clutch. So to help you out just unlug the sensor/solenoid and it will stop locking up your converter. Problem solved! MOney saved 2 to 3 hundred bucks!

Will 1995 4l60e ecu, lockup a 700r4 torque converter?

Your best fix would be to install a hydralic lock-uo kit in the transmission. This would be best done by a good trans shop. The lock-up systems between a 4l60 and a4l60e are quite different and would shorten torgue converter life.Hope this helps you.
