Saturn automatic and manual transmission do in fact have drain plugs. And the automatic had a screw on filter similar to an engine oil filter. They also do not have a transmission pan.

Have any maintence recently been done? I'd check the drain bolt and filter first.

If this is a major leak that started out of no where, its possible the differential pin had moved and put a crack in the transmission bell housing casing. This usually more of an issue with manuals, but it does happen with autos as well. When this happens, it could be anything from a small crack to a gaping hole.

Saturns do in fact have a drain plug and they do have a rubber gasket on the plug...Saturns valve body pan cover is on the top below battery. Hopefully you do not have any case problems like cracked from contact...good luck

I didn't think they had a drain plug either. Is the fluid running out with the car on or off? If it is while it is running, you most likely have an input or output seal leaking. If it is while the engine is off, most likely a leaking trans pan, or cracked/broken trans. Get a helper to add fluid while you are underneath looking for it. Be careful not to get fluid in your eyes.

There is no drain plug, you may have a pusher out gasket ot a front torque converter seal leaking, I would go with the trans pan gasket 1st. is it poss a hole was put in the pan by road junk?

2000 saturn SL2 A/T...drain tranny, how much fluid to refill? no owners manual....surprise!!!!!

I don't have your car, but there is one of two ways to check the fluid level for a tranny. One is with the dip-stick, and it should be checked after you have been driving the car and with the engine still running. If you just drained it, fill it up to max of the dipstick level, drive it a bit, then recheck. Repeat until it's good. The other way to check fluid level is by a fluid check plug which is somewhere on the side of the tranny. Just un-screw the bolt and pour in the fluid (using the fill hole) until you see it running out of the side of the fluid check hole. Close everything back up, take it for a spin, and re-check the fluid.

Where do you put transmission fluid in?

If it has a dipstick to check the fluid with, you can pour it right down there, with a long funnel, if not, you have 2 plugs on the right side of the tranny, one is for fill and the other is for level, fill up the top till the fluid comes out the bottom. Make sure you get the right fluid, there are about 19 different kinds out there. Hope this helps.

How do i put transmission fluid in my 2000 isuzu rodeo

The transmission fluid fill port is actually on the tranny. You have to get under the car, find the tranny and feel around the top for a bolt or a hole. There is a bolt on the bottom to empty the fluid, and to fill it is a pain in the ***. I had to rig up an empty quart of oil with two small rubber hoses. One hose you put it the hole at the top, and the other you blow in. There is no room for you to pour it in. You can also buy small hand pumps to feed in the fluid. After filling, (when fluid overflows from the top port) start the car and put it in drive then reverse and repeat two or three times. You'll find you have to put more fluid in after this.

How to drain transmission fluid in 1993 saturn sl2?

About the only way to drain transmission fluid is to take off the oil pan on the bottom of the tranny. There is no drain plug on transmissions.

Good luck

1999 Saturn SL2 shifting problems

I also have a 1999 sl2 saturn . I was having about the same problem but mine also did not want to go into reverse somtimes as well . Ichanged my fluid and filter and put in a good trans conditioner and just about all my trouble went away. The trans filter is just like a oil filter it just screws on the outside of the transmission . It is located down under the air filter housing, and the fluid plug is right on the bottom of the trans.

Manual transmission, but a short red tipped dipstick, looks like tranny fluid?

I have a 1998 saturn with a manual transmission and it took me quite some time to locate the dip stick. it is located on top of the gearbox close to the brake resevoir where the linkeage connects. it has a red plastic clip on top of the dip stick and submerges verticaly into the gearbox and is about six inches long. the red clip can easliy be hidden with black dirt and not seen. do not confuse this with the clutch reservoir fluid located to the right of the brake master cylnder. good luck.
