2001 dodge dakota will not start

When I go to start my 2001 dodge dakota it just clicks. I checked my fuses, battery, and alternater and are all good. If I jump start it, it will stay on as long as I keep my foot on the gas peddle. Any suggestions?

Well I took the starter in to get checked and it is good. So, now this eliminates the battery, alternator and starter. Any other suggestions?

Sounds like a bad battery, or bad/loose connection there. After the battery is replaced, or disconnected, it will need a little bit to relearn how to idle.

If you have to hook another car up to your car to get it to turn over, it is usually the battery or the starter. Being that it won't stay running, I would suspect the battery. How old is the battery? More than 4 years old?

Battery is being drainrd

have your starter tested, dodge starters tend to pull too much voltage when tey go bad, they will still start the veh, but it drains the battery, and alternator can't charge enough to compensate for the drain.therefore it will kill the alternator and battery

99 dodge ram will not charge battery new battery they say my alternater is good alternater fuse is good

When you say the fuse is good, do you mean the fusible link. 140 Amp? See diagram below. The link is the only thing that can prevent the battery from charging. Check the voltage at the battery with the engine running. It should be at least 14 volts if the alternator and circuit are good.

2001 Dodge Ram 1500 5.2 Battery died and Replaced also Starter still no start just loud click from new starter and does not turn over engine but can be push started by pop clutch and runs fine

Assuming you replaced the solenoid with the starter, it may be the relay. If the relay is not making a good connection, it might have trouble throwing the solenoid. The relay should be in the relay box under the hood. You can break the relay open and watch it work while someone turns the key to verify the problem.

2001 Dakota: 2001 dodge Dakota rapidly clicks when I try to sta...

First, make sure your battery is not dead or weak. A simple Multimeter can test your car battery.

Clean your battery cable connections at the battery and starter. Also clean where the cables connect to the battery. Cleaning means to take a wire brush or sand paper to get rid of rust/corrosion.

If the above does not remedy it, I would have your starter and starter solenoid tested for free at your local auto parts store.

When I go to start my 2001 dodge dakota it just clicks. I checked

As far as the O2 sensor goes you should probably replace both. But the CEL should have given you a code to know which O2 sensor was acting up. In my experience it is almost alway the one before the Cat converter. As far as the clicking...Check your battery and see if enough power is getting to the starter. You can have it tested at an auto parts store or just try to jump it. If it jumps, you need to charge or replace your battery if it won't charge. If the battery is good however, you probably need to replace the starter. Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!
