In a coil-over-plug assembly. There are 4 on each side of the intake, each secured by an 8mm bolt that is nearly impossible to replace if the bolt breaks.

2000 Expedition is idling badly and stalling.

Have you changed your fuel filter? When is the last time you changed your sparkplugs? Have you had any codes on the computer? Heres what I would do. First change your sparkplugs. This is a 4-6 hour job. You have to unbolt the cop(coil on plug assembly). After you change the plugs your truck will run rough. Drive it around the block then back to your house. It will take 3-5 restarts before your truck quits running rough. Reason for this is because your computer is trying to "relearn" the firing order. I have done this several times so i know what i am talking about. You can even look it up. Your 2000 expedition is a dang good truck with a great engine. After your computer relearns the firing order then the rough idle will be gone. Then I would take it out on the freeway and run it hard for 5-10 miles. If you experience a miss or two then that means you need a new cop(s). Get a code reader and it will tell you which cop is bad. Cops are expensive. I bought 6 new ones on ebay for $40. If you buy from autozone or ford dealer then you are looking at about 80-100 bucks a piece. Tell me if this helps. Ford makes a good truck and the expedition is a great truck. Mine is a 2000 expedition also. I have 248,000 miles on it and running strong with no burning oil. Good luck.

Sparkplugs blowing out

oh boy someone took them out of a hot motor and stripped the threads out . I had a mechanic repair an olds F 85 by drilling the holes out and putting in steel inserts many years back . I hear helicoils will sometimes work too.

Blow-ed out a spark plug--- 2000 Ford Expedition--Eddie Bower edition. V-8

This happens way more than it should. Go online and read history on this engine. AboutAutomobile.com has full defect reports by NHTSA, Tech Service Bulletins, Owner Complaints.

Some use a Helicoil to try to fix this. About only good point is that sparkplugs are 100,000 mile type and may not need to be serviced again. Buy only 1 piece sparkplug as replacement.

I have a 2000 Ford Expedition with 157,000 miles. Do I need to be concerned about replacing the timing chain?

no you should not worry about changing timing. unless its not starting or something is really wrong that points you to the timing chain. i have 250,000 on my f150 never had no problems with timing chain. maybe a coil pack or sparkplug but no timing chain.

check fuel pressure at the fuel rail. could be a weak fuel pump. fuel pump 35 - 40psi. and or you might have a bad coil pack or sparkplug

WHY DO THE SPARKS PLUGS IN A 1998 FORD EXPEDITION NEEDS REPLACING EVERY FOUR MONTHS

Seems quite odd to me - unless the Ford is driven day and night over four months and reaches the normal service intervals such high replacement rate is more plausible. Normally is takes a few years to wear good quality sparkplugs out.

How to change sparkplugs in my 2004 Ford Expedition

This vehicle's sparkplugs are located on the intake, right beside the fuel injectors. This is a time consuming job, and it is recommended to replace all COPs (Coil on plugs) very costly!! **WARNING**>> Work on the plugs with the engine cold, these engines are know for very little sparkplug threading and causing the plugs to eject while in operation. Be very carfeful installing as they are installed at an angle.
