Sounds like your upper control arm bushings are worn out.

Without knowing where the noise is coming from, you won't have much luck fixing it. If it happens when you are moving you may have to get someone to stand next to the truck and listen.

the ball joints may be too tight witch will cause premature wear and or the sway bar and the ends for the bar could be bent or worn witch will cause some of that as well. hope this helps cant give much more info unless seeing it and knowing what they did good luck message if anymore questions

When I hit a bump the front end shakes and makes a clunking noise

Could be alot of things like worn out bushings, ball joints, tie rod ends, radius arm bushings(which is common) you should have this checked out before it gets worse and cost alot more to fix what could be an easy, inexpensive job.

Creaking noise in front end 1997 explorer

Sounds like it is your CV axles.  Turn the wheel one direction, right or left, and check just behind the wheels to see if your CV boot is cracked or ripped (the boot is a black, rubber accordion looking thing).  If it is cracked or ripped, I would say that is definitely the problem.
