Wiring to solenoid not correct or faulty/corroded. Battery not enough amps to turn starter. A battery can seem charged but not have enough amps which fools a lot of people when batteries get old.

Suggest you look at battery 1st Remove Earth cable normally + sign, check the cable connection to the battery is clean inside & wire brush the battery where the cable fits see if that is your problem, only other thing is the battery no longer holding it's charge IE: you may need new battery. Could be a dead battery, bad connection on one of the battery cables, or the starter. Have you had the battery checked or charged ?

charge the battery and once fully charged, do a LOAD test on it, clean all the connections and start the car ,, check the voltage at the battery posts with the car running, you should get between 13.5 and 14.5 volts, if not, replace the alternator , if you do, the battery and the cables just needed some attention

2002 jaguar x type wont start, lights, radio, air have power. clicking sound when turning the key to start the engine. Engine light stays, no engine turnover

Hi .
unlikely to be immobiliser fault ,so check basics, try a set of jump leads or check battery voltage above 12.5,if the clicking is coming from the starter motor with a fully charged battery then suspect starter motor failure.
