How do you replace a blower switch on a 2004 Santa Fe? I had it replaced by the dealer last year (cost $120) and it's gone out again. Thanks. Ted

When last year? more than 1 year ago?.. or less?... take it back to them.. if it's the same problem, they should do a GOOD WILL repair and cost you nothing.

The heater fan blower switch has shorted out on my 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe. I can get it to work if I turn it on and then push the knob up and hold it there. How do you replace those?

Get the same type sourced only from the Hyundai service, remove the whole set of the switch from within and replace .
Alternatively since the part is sourced from them-- check availability- the cost of service will almost be inccluded in the spare and so it is best to have them install it.

My 2004 santa fe has 65k miles on it. Should it need ALL new breaks and the timing chain replaced as a garage claims? Also, replacing the timing chain costs $2800 according to the garage, and the breaks...

I would shop around $2800 sounds way too high!!! $1700 for breaks $425 per wheel you can do way better than that!!! If you have rear drums they last at least 2X front disc, call around you should't pay more than $1000 for 4 wheel disc. You are due for timing belt, you have time to shop around for better price.
Good Luck!

Oil leak where half shaft enters transfer case on passenger side.

Same propblem. My dealer repaired twice, cost lots of dollars cause they say they have to remove the case. After the second repair and still leaks, they say the manufacture says to replace the transfer case??? $3400 for the job. Tomcal, if you are still checking, did you get it fixed and did you do it yourself? Good luck to anyone else with this problem. I love the car, a 2001 with less than 100K.

Blower fan won't shut off its or climate control fan keeps running 2003 hyundai santa fe

Probably a stuck fan control relay.
Find the relay and remove it - if this stops the fan. replace the relay with a new one.

The best thing to do is go to Auto Zone and get your Hyundai scanned for a DTC code. That would tell us which O2 sensor has gone bad. You have three O2 sensors and one of them has gone bad, the O2 sensor sends signals to the ecm to control the air fuel mixture so it will not run to rich or to lean which is causing you to fail the state inspection. Good luck and keep me posted on what the DTC codes are, be glad to help.

Battery replacement

Car Batteries last 3-6 years possisble longer/Shorter - Depends on alot of things, 2005 Vehicle the battery is 4 years old. I would clean the battery termals and have a local shop load test the battery for you. If the battery is weak it is best to change the battery now than have you charging system working hard to charge a weak battery adding more cost to a repair later or a no start on a cold morning.
