Heater is blowing cold air. I have a chevy 2001 silverado extended cab, long wheel base. what could cause this?

My truck had the same issue and from I have read, it is pretty common. I just felt the heater hoses under the hood. If there is one hot and one cold, with the engine running and the heater set to maximum, rapidly squeeze and release the hot hose for about fifteen seconds.I just did this to my truck and it "Burped" the heater core. I got instant LAVA HOT air!! I hope this helps.

2001 silverado, 5.3L. heater control stays hot,

I have the same problem, I think the door inside the heater box gets stuck when you turn it to hottest setting. Try going 1/2 or 3/4 to hot and see if it recovers without turning off the truck.

On my sons 2000 chevy silverado 4.8 liter....the heater works fine....but when i switch control to defrost....only cold air blows out defrost vents....any help would be appreciated.

the heater & defroster baffles are controlled by electic motors that open and close the baffle (doors) to let the air to the heater and defroster vents. the motor must be bad

Do i need to pull my dash to replace my heater core in a 2001 chevy silverado ext cab

You will need to pull the dash and a bunch of other components in order to access the heater core. Getting ready to do the same repair and really not looking forward to it.
