Ecm code for check engine light.2004 rodeo3 .5 v6
My guess is you are hearing rumors.
and now want to know what
a check engine light means, (means get it serviced)
the book on the car covers all this is you like to read.
the book is a FSM, factory service manual or SM.
i close match is at Mitchells' DIY dot com, google it.
all mech, use it. so not have to memorize , 1million DTC errors.
it the CEL lamp means get car serviced, or learn to scan it and read the book. each error is covered in the book, if you can read.
ecm =pcm = ecu
engine control module or UNIT.
the codes means error codes
the are all called officially in usa, DTC
diagnostic, trouble codes.
it's an OBD2 PCM , true name
invented here in USA, OBD2 was. and super documented to be sure.
the CEL lamp glows that means scan the PCM.
that is what it means.
it means scan me.
why wait.?
all scan tools work all modern obd2 tools work on this car, in the USA.
buy one
rent one
barrow one
or ask you mechanic to scan it.
pick one/?
scan it.
see DTC error?
then open the book
turn to page on THAT DTC
and behold, every car, makers book tells you what do to with that error.
it tells you what test is next.
in electronics, we do tests. not guess.
if say it told me a sensor was dead
is measure it to see if it is dead.
or the wire broken to it.
some sensors can be just cleaned.
we use scope for most sensors.
scopes never lie, is the reason.
example say the DTC was open heater, B1S1
we check heater voltage, ok good.
then check heater current, zero, oops oxygen sensor died, very common failure.
heaters burn out. the use about 1amp current.

A couple of ways to check and see if the computer is ok first:
check engine light must come onwith they in on position
The fuel pump must run for two (2) seconds with the key ON
There must be a 5 volt reference at sensors like map, TPS
Must communicate with scan tool
The ORANGE wires at the computer are you power input wires one has 12V all the time this is your KEEP ALIVE MEMORY
one is 12 with the Key on you MUAT HAVE VOLTAGE AT BOTH
Check the computers Ground most are out under the hood and are brown wires
Try the GM TAP TEST this is a factory authorized test with the computer connected and you verified all of the above SLAP the computer with the open hand firmly not too hard but firm see if anything changes,
Do not disconnect the battery you will erase all the codes!

Remove your battery head for 5 minutes while engine is off. This should put it in order.
Rate this please.
SOURCE: i replaced the ecm but p1164 code came back after 25 miles.check engine light again
code p1164 is the primary heated oxygen sensor circuit range performance fault.

I had the SAME thing with my car!! Remove your air bag module its a grayish looking box that deploys your air bags, my air bag light was on but it was on and off. I pumped gas in my car one night and when i went to crank it my car cut right off after a split second. My mechanic took time on it but discover that it was a secrity issue. He removed the air bag module and presto it fired right up. I thought it was a fuel filter or fuel pump. It was just the air bag module, people freaked out about it once i told them what it was....it should be under the passenger seat, i believe u may have to take out the seat to get to it.

Hello, I will try to get this shadetree enough so we both can understand it. I found articles for this defect going past 2 years, so I imagine nothing new has been invented to fix it.
The Code 2104 is only showing that a secondary part was trying to adjust the idle because the primary part was not doing the job. They call it an Accelerator Paddle Positon sensor, an APP for short. I can't say if it is the same as a TPS.
The Primary part that needs fixing is the Throttle plate (body). Thats your Code 2111 and it means the throttle plates are sticking in the bore, your TAC motor is crosswired, or the Harness connector for the TAC is shorted together. The TAC is the electric valve combination built into the Intake and it looks like a miniature starter, round and elongnated. It deals with venting airflow.
The TAC, wiring harness connectors, and throttle plates are all something a shadetree can clean or inspect. Make sure the TPS you installed was properly in the slot at the Butterfly shaft. Check the small screws or rivets in each Butterfly flap as a loose Butterfly valve can jam in the bore.
Basically everything is saying the throttle is not closing to where it belongs according to the other sensors and that it is not synchronized with other moving parts. It is always open too much. I am thinking the engine is getting too much air.
Now after checking those items, if nothing is shorted, loose or binding they say you need to have the PCM tested or reprogrammed. I am thinking it might be worthwhile to buy a PCM Relay and stick it in. You can do it first or last, but as a last ditch effort to avoid a Dealer I would try it.
I would like to know what finally fixed your truck as I see some Solutions but no verifications.
