Sounds like a live wire short. Check all cabling from fuse, motor and switch.look for open or damaged cable insulation.
Remove wire harnass from switch and fuelpump and see if fuse still blows, then definite short. If not connect switch only and see if fuse is still intact If so connect fuelpump. If fuse blows then defenitly pump
yor fuel pump is more likely to be defective and this can checked by connecting a mulitimeter and checking the current draw on operation should not exceed 3 amps

I have a 1997 740IL. There was an error code for the cramshaft sensor and I got it changed. After they changed the cramshaft sensor, they told me that there is now a problem with the knock sensor. The following are my questions: 1. why both codes did not show when they fixed the first problem 2. could they have fixed both at the same time. Meaning, are they both in the same area.
