Question about 2005 Ford Futura

1 Answer

I have a 2005 BF Ford Falcon. It seems some wires have snapped where they enter the indicator arm and as a result my headlights arent working. is it possible to take the actual lightswith off or do i have to get a new multifunction switch and wiring loom. All i need to do is to get in there to rejoin the wires but am too worried about snapping the switch off was hoping there is a way or a special tool to use or whatever. Your help would be much appreciated. Cheers

Hi, I ended up fixing it I had to remove the airbag and steering wheel then the combo switch. Theres a cover on the back (which is hard to see when its attached) and once you pop that off you can get to the wires. So I soldered a bit more length in the wires and it was sorted. Done about 40 000k's since then and no problem. Yeah its funny cuz I was at about 76000 when it happened but luckily the headlights went first. I got quotes from wreckers for new combo switch and got quoted between $260-280 and rung ford and got quoted $275 go figure. But yeah It was quite easy to fix in the end. Cheers, Paul

I now have a similar problem with my 2006 BF Fairmont. The lights switch off when I indicate and I have to fiddle with the switch for the lights to come back on. They are just starting to flicker on and off as I'm driving. Sounds like I'm lucky to get 93000k's out of it before this happened. Was today quoted $730 for replacement part fitted.

The problem is that ford or the supplier of this particular switch did not alllow for the travel of the indicator wand when they made it. My 2006 BF has only 76000kms on the clock and as many other owners of this model and with the same amount of km's on the clock are finding now that they have to lay out a fortune ($400-$600) on something that was a design fault from day one.

My Ford Falcon 2005 low beam headlights aren't working, however the high beams and park lights work fine. Please help.

The relays are next to your battery. The first one is the horn relay (the yellow one closest to the headlight), then the lo and high beams after that, I forgot which order, and then the starter relay.

Get a freind to check which one clicks when you turn on the high beams (put your finger on it), and swap it over with the one next to it.

Check to see if the headlights work, but the high beams not. If this is the case, the relay is fried. If the high beams are still not working, then check the contacts in the combination switch (on the steering column), or the wiring... this is a bit more difficult to trace, none the less, not that difficult.
